Route 3 opened west of Motostoke with a different sound than the city. Steam whistles faded behind us, replaced by wind moving through grass, factory hums in the distance, and the steady crunch of our shoes on the road. Pikachu rode on my shoulder, ears turning toward every new rustle.
Alice slowed first. A cluster of tiny flower Pokémon drifted above the roadside, carried by the wind like petals that had decided to travel together. Their yellow faces turned toward the sun, and a soft scent followed them, gentle enough to cut through the dusty road air.
"Wow," Alice whispered, stepping carefully so she would not startle them. "What are those Pokémon? I have never seen them before."
Flora smiled with immediate recognition. "They are Gossifleur. Grass types. They let the wind carry them, but they are not aimless. Watch how they move around the tired travelers."
She was right. One Gossifleur floated near a worker resting beside a crate, and the man's shoulders loosened after breathing in its pollen. Another circled a worn-out Yamper until the little Pokémon stopped panting so hard and leaned into the breeze.
Alice's eyes softened. "They are helping people along the road."
"The factory traffic keeps disturbing their rhythm," Flora said. "But they are still trying to make this place easier to pass through."
One Gossifleur turned toward Alice and drifted lower. It landed on her head, nestling into her hair like it had found a sunny field instead of a traveling Trainer. Alice froze for half a second, then giggled as the petals brushed her forehead.
"Do you like it there, Gossifleur?" Alice asked.
Gossifleur tucked itself more comfortably into her hair, petals spreading with a warm little sway, "The road is loud, but your voice feels soft enough to rest on."
I smiled at the two of them. "Looks like it has taken a liking to you."
"Yeah," Alice said, reaching up with one careful hand. "And I really like this Pokémon too. How about joining our team? We can travel together and help more tired travelers."
Gossifleur floated down into her palms and nodded. Alice touched a Poké Ball gently to its side, and the ball rocked once before clicking shut.
Pokédex Entry Updated — Ash and Alice's Shared Galar Record
Gossifleur, the Flowering Pokémon. Grass type. It anchors itself in the ground with its single leg, then basks in the sun. After absorbing enough sunlight, its petals spread as it blooms brilliantly.
Alice released Gossifleur again almost immediately, and it settled on her shoulder instead of her hair. The scent around us felt fresher as we continued, softer life growing beside Galar's industrial road.
A few travelers who had stopped nearby noticed the change too. One boy with a tired Rookidee asked whether the flower Pokémon had been ours all along, and Alice shook her head while Gossifleur puffed up proudly. The boy's Rookidee leaned closer, wings drooping less after breathing the sweet pollen.
Flora explained that Gossifleur did not replace rest, food, or medicine. It simply helped a weary body remember how to settle. That distinction mattered on a road where factories, carts, and challenger excitement could push people into ignoring their limits.
Alice promised Gossifleur that we would stop whenever its scent told us someone needed a gentler moment. Gossifleur bobbed with approval, and even Elena looked pleased. "That is a useful partner for a group that attracts chaos," she said.
Gloria pointed toward the distant mine road. "Then we are lucky Alice caught it before Hop finds us again."
By midday, the road grew warm enough that Helen declared a camp break before anyone could argue. She unpacked curry ingredients with the seriousness of a Gym Leader preparing a final move, and the rest of us cleared a safe patch away from dry grass.
