Skyler sat there on the opposite couch silently. He had laid Jackson on the bed in his room without telling me when or if he'd ever wake up. The empty waves of sound killed me inside. The boy I fell for in high school is right in front of me and I can't seem to croak a word.

My eyes watched him as he grabbed a Brita water pitcher out of the fridge and poured two glasses. He then handed one to me and returned back to his original seating. I sipped it and then picked it back up to chug the rest after remembering I needed to sober up.

"HarleQuinn." I noticed he sounded different but now that things are calmer for me, it's hitting me harder. He sounds worried or anxious. My head raised from its limp positioning and our eyes locked. "Are you okay? I know you have a lot of questions and I'm not sure if it's the right time but you can ask away."

"I'm fine Skyler."

"Alright. I didn't leave you for no reason."

How could he think I'm stupid? He leaves and only keeps contact with Jackson, doesn't that sound like 'no reason'? What have I ever done to him? "So what was the reason?!"

"I cannot tell you that anymore." The silence was loud and I focused on the ground once more. I had no interest in begging for an explanation. "Because you call me Skyler. There is something very wrong with that."

"That is your name, isn't it? What the fuck else would I call you?"

He came close and reached his hands towards my shirt. I backed away instinctively thinking his intentions were sexual. Skyler continued reaching into the collar of my shirt and pulled out my amulet. "What do you know about this?"

"My father gave it to me when I was very young. He told me it's the second most important thing on earth. The first one is me."

"Do you still have the box?"

"What box?"

"Hmm." He sat there worrying.

"I'm just fucking with you." I burst out laughing. "Yes, I still have it. Luke doesn't know I have it though. I don't know why I never told him, there's just something in me that's saying not to."

Skyler didn't respond. He returned to his side and opened a laptop that sat on the coffee table in between us. The clicks of the keys soothed my brain as he typed. I've never seen him so businessy before. Well I mean we're twenty-one now so maybe he found a nice job and is a successful businessman.

The silence I once enjoyed, was now deafening. I missed him so much, I'd waited so long to see him again. But unfortunately, my heart isn't beating out of my chest with excitement. He doesn't show interest the same way I fell for him; then again, we were teenagers.

In the kitchen to get more water to help clear my blood stream, I was startled by the voice of Jackson who was just asleep. "Shit, my head's pounding like a bitch. Skye! How drunk was I that you had to take me home?"

My back was still turned but it was evident that he hadn't noticed me yet. "You begged HarleQuinn to fuck you and shamed me in the middle of it. If my boss didn't like you so much, I'd have killed you already."

I emerged back into the living room revealing myself to him. Jackson's face was red and he seemed embarrassed to even look at me. Then he had the audacity to apologize to Skyler and not me. Such a selfish asshole.

"So have you told her about Andrés yet?" I heard him loud and clear but it's as if the speed they came out of his mouth was just as fast as they disappeared from my brain. Skyler shot him a glare and I was more than confused.

"What are you so mad at him for, Skyler? What did he say?" His annoyed expression twisted into pure confusion and worry as he switched eye contact from Jackson to me.
