this is the last straw.

joshua is really going to let that bald manager with crooked teeth know a piece of his mind.

he is going to looking for a new job and that's final. there is no way he will get away with insulting the manager so might as well just say 'fuck it' and get everything off his chest.

yes, he will say everything out loud today. he will make it loud and clear.

the manager must be out of his damn mind, because he just called joshua to tell him to come in even though the college student clearly informed him the other day that he has some preparations to do for the school's upcoming festival. festival preparation is a total pain in the ass. he already gave joshua his approval too. he can't just take back his words. what about joshua's business. the baldie must think joshua is a push-over. he needs to know that everything has a limit.

so, joshua is coming in like he is told. but instead, he'll be coming in as a ticking bomb. yeah, i'm not putting up with this shit anymore.

he pushes through the cafe's door and immediately meets eyes with the the manager.

"perfect! you're on time. now get to work, quickly! time's gold," the manager ushers him to get moving.

but joshua sets his ground in the middle of the shop. "mr. choi."

"we don't have time! let's talk later—"

"i can't do this anymore."

mr. choi's hand that is waving in the wave halts, "what?"

"i said i can't do this anymore," joshua repeats with gritted teeth. "mr. choi, you can't just call me in whenever you want. i have things i need to do."

"this rascal—this is part of your work. you get paid for it, do you not? why are you suddenly complaining?"

"today is my day off! i already informed you a week ago, and i even reminded you yesterday that i have things to do at school today." joshua made sure to remind him twice yesterday because he knew the manager will probably call him in.

"oh, you mean that festival thing? hey, it's just some festival. your study and work are the most important. why worry about those useless things?" he even has the audacity to brush it off.

"well that is my business. i have many more responsibilities than just come running whenever you want," joshua spits out, clearing raging.

"at your age, what responsibilities do you even know?" the man laughs mockingly. his hands rest on his hips now.

joshua clenches his fists tightly. never had he seen anyone as much of an asshole as the man in front of him.

"if you're really busy as you say are, then you wouldn't be here. people only work when they have time."

"people work to survive, mr. choi," the american immediately corrects him. his bravery only gets bigger as anger takes over him. it's a good thing though. "do you come to work just because you have nothing to do? don't you have a family to feed? don't you have needs?"

"hey you little fucker, i've had enough of you. fine, if you're going to quit, then quit! leave! kids like you won't be able to survive in this world, i'm telling you."

joshua scoffs, finding everything ridiculous. i should be the one saying that. "well i'm so sorry for refusing to lick your shoed and be obedient. life doesn't work that say anymore, mr. choi. it's 2024. please come back to your senses."

the manager scoffs a laugh, but his eyes show that he is really pissed. he might even throw a punch at joshua right now.

joshua can't fight.
