Chapter one
Wolf in sheep's clothing
Daina"Daina!" Gideon Fangee, a lady in waiting, has been spending the last twenty minutes trying to hunt down her princess. Running down the stairs of the palace she hikes her layered black skirt up to her knees, her rubber boots echoing through the halls "where is she?" Jackson Foster a personal attendant of the king appears beside her.
"I don't know!" He shouted down at her, Gideon dressed in her black court gown barely reached up to Jackson's shoulders when wearing heels.
"You should know! It's your job to know!" Jackson rambled dressed in his exorcist uniform.
Unlike a common exorcist uniform his was more regal, a thick black jacket pinned to his shoulders adorned with medals, his black clergy shirt fitted firmly against his chest, and his drapes pinned around his waist to sway between his legs.
Stitched in over his heart was a crest, a lion; it's gaping mouth swallowing the sun, his family's crest. And of course, a silver cross necklace wrapped around his neck and a golden coin in his chest pocket. Many everyday people would mistake him as some rouge priest, a fantasy lover or a fiend looking to defile himself in a holy uniform. When in fact Jackson is regarded as one of the top members of the magical army in the city Sanctus and he certainly acts like it.
"You know as well as I do that she can run away from me easily" Gideon shot back at him; Jackson simply rolled his eyes as they busted through another set of double doors.
Palace servants scatter as the two march down the hallway, guests can be heard in the great dining hall chatting away as the await the princess of their realm, the heir to the throne.
"What if we just run it without her?" Jackson suggested peeking into the great hall. There were a lot of people, all dressed either in exorcist's uniforms or rich silks "oh yeah, sounds great until they notice the twenty-year-old birthday party is conspicuously missing the twenty-year-old!" Gideon with her fiery red hair whispered harshly
"well I don't see you offering any other ideas" Jackson backed away glancing at the large arched windows that let him stare down the cliff-face into the great city below "Ange's above where is she?"
———
"Daina slow down!" She skids down the tiled roofs; they clutter down onto the alleyway below. The rush feeds into her blood making the air in her lungs come in short tight bursts, this is what she'd rather do than attending her own party, to her it was far more productive, far more exhilarating. Besides, she wasn't doing it alone.
A boy ran alongside her shouting occasionally shouting for her to stop so he could catch up, he jumped over an alley landing clumsily beside her. His jet-black hair stuck to his forehead in sweat, even the scarf covering his features seemed damp "you're going too fast for me" he said pulling his lips free of the fabric face mask to breathe the air in.
Every inch of him screamed Pisces, the Nobel family name not the sign. His dark skin, slim angular build, born and bred for battle, yet he couldn't keep up with Daina.
The boy sat down leaning against his elbows "I don't understand how you always manage to escape me" the city bustled around them, Rome Italy to be specific. Here in the human world, it was a lot more fun to run around, especially because they knew they weren't supposed to be here.
"You need to fix your foot work, Caelum" she huffs out, tapping her own boot against his as she sat down beside him.
Caelum glanced down at his feet his brow creasing, he shrugged the comment off "Daina, shouldn't we head back?" Daina laid back listening to the sound of overcrowding tourists and locals.
