The Last String

2. The First Day

Noon slumps back at his chair. Trying to process everything. Jake and Kit were off for a meeting with the higher ups.

Noon suddenly recalls everyone making a bet the moment he came into the room.

"Oh that? Jake is the hottest superstar right now and I know you heard about his scandals in the news. That was true" Dhan tells him.

"Yeah, and he's hot tempered. And just a heads up, he always puts his anger out on his assistant. Which from now on, will be you" Pay added, making Noon feel like he made a big mistake working in the agency.

"And no one had lasted a month with him. I know that this feels insensitive but, I felt lucky because I was assigned to that work. I don't know if you'll gonna believe this, but most of his assistants quits right after they meet him. He really has a bad temper"

"But don't worry, you seem like a good kid, just remember that he doesn't want his coffee running cold" Pay gives him a tip, and he mentally notes it.

"I hope you have a strong will. You're the 5th one this month. The last one quit because Jake lashed out on her on the set when she bought him cold noodles"

Jake is that kind of person? Noon was taken aback by the things his new workmates are telling him.

Will he survive for today? That is something he doesn't know.

It was around lunchtime when Kit returned and told them to get ready. Jake has a photoshoot and he needs to be there before 1.

Everyone rushes to get all the stuffs they needed leaving Noon standing, unsure of what he should do.

"You just need to bring yourself. Jake will gonna ask anything, anytime so all you have to do is be attentive" Ham instructs him.

The moment they arrive at the shooting location, Jake immediately sets his rules.

"Tell the newbie to just stay here. I don't need anything. If he step his foot out of this car, he's fired" Jakes voice was low but stern, Noon felt a shiver down his spine as he hears those words coming out of the artist's mouth.

Was Jake really this bad?

Kit looked at him in disbelief. That's a first.

"It's his first day, you don't have to be this harsh. Let him breathe for now" Kit responded with a hint of authority.

"I said what I said, and it's me who needs to breathe so I really need to go out and take a breathe of fresh air. I feel choked here"

And with that Jake gets out of the van.

Kit looks at Noon in worry. He feels sorry but what can he do. All they have to do is follow.

Dhan gives Noon a pat, giving him a look of assurance before everyone gets out of the van.

Noon slowly opens his eyes, someone was gently nudging him awake. He didn't realize he fell asleep waiting for the shoot to end.

Pay looks at him softly.

"Jake says he needs you there" she tells him.

Noon quickly stood up, it was his first task.

He follows Pay inside and he somehow froze at the moment he entered Jake's dressing room. Jake didn't even bother to look at him.

"Clean that up"
It was the only thing Jake said but it left Noon speechless as he stared at the pool of coffee on the floor.
