Hey guys, this story is dedicated to @SadieJames123, hope you enjoy!
"Bryce, you need to stay home! Your sick!" I exclaimed. Bryce shook his head, shakily getting to his feet. His usually tan face was a pale sheet of white. He looked so fragile and weak, not the strong and mighty baseball player I knew. I had been nursing Bryce for the past week. He had a horrible stomach flu, and hadn't been able to eat anything but oatmeal and applesauce. He had insisted to go to the game so he could play. I knew the coach wouldn't let him play. But of course, the hot headed man wouldn't listen to me.
"Sadie, I have to go! My team's depending on me. And this is the most important game of the season!" After his protest, he had a large bout of coughing. I patted his back, retreating some cough medicine. He swallowed down the deep purple liquid. "Bryce. You're sicker than a dog! I'm sure your team will understand." Harper shook his head and I ran a hand through my hair, frustrated. "Fine! Go!" I sighed. "I'll be here, waiting." Bryce beamed, eyes lighting up at my approval. He sauntered over to our closet, pulling out his uniform with the large 34 printed on it. He slipped it into a bag, along with some Tylenol and his cleats. He grabbed his lucky bat, which he had named after me. I gave Bryce a peck on the cheek, wishing him luck, as I always did. But this time, I meant it more than anything. I shuddered at the thought of Bryce throwing up on the field. Oh dear, now I was even more nervous. "Be careful!" I called. Bryce turned, smiling weakly.
*le time skip, brought to you by Ryan Zimmerman*
I chewed my lip, watching my television. Bryce had missed quite a few pop flys. I knew people were beginning to question his skill in this game.
Usually, Bryce would have gotten the team up 3-0. It was currently 4-2, Braves. Poor Ryan Zimmerman was supporting the whole team with Werth. It was the 7th inning and Matt Williams sauntered on the field. I expected the older man to be furious with Bryce, but he only looked concerned.I watched him call over Bryce. My baby looked even worse than he did when he left. His eyes were half closed and he looked a bit green. Harper nodded, agreeing with what coach just said. Bryce exited the field, disappearing into the locker rooms. Bryce Harpers substitute takes his place at right field. What did Matt and Bryce talk about?
I should probably prepare for Bryce to come home...
I stand, rushing around the house. I prepared some warm soup and tea for Bryce, medicine and his pajamas. First, though, he would need a nice warm bath. I prepped that as well, sitting on the soft couch until he returned.Another 30 minutes later, I heard the slam of a car door. I rushed out to the garage where Bryce always parked his and my car. He struggled over to our door, his baseball bag hanging heavily on his shoulder. I briskly walked over, shouldering his baseball bag and helping him in. "Thanks Sadie..." Bryce rasped. I nodded quietly, settings his bad down. I was still a bit upset with Bryce for going out to the game when he was clearly sick. Bryce collapsed on the couch, and I sat next to him. "Babe... I'm sorry for this morning. You were right. I am too sick to play." He mumbled, laying his head on my shoulder. His beard lightly tickled my neck and I smiled. It was rare for Bryce to swallow his pride and apologize, and I was grateful he did it for me.
"Thank you for apologizing. I made you a bath. Come on." I stood, helping Bryce to his feet. Supporting him, I took slow steps our en suit bathroom. I helped Bryce undressed (and hot damn, he was sexy) and he got into the bubble bath. He leaned back, closing his eyes, I crouched next to the bath, stirring my finger on the bubbled water. "Thank you," My boyfriend whispered, grabbing hold of my hand. I looked up, into his baby blue eyes. Smiling, I pecked his jaw. "You're welcome."My boyfriends eyes brightened. "Sadie, can you come in?" Bryce pleaded, his sparkling eyes begging. I sighed, quickly agreeing. I stripped down, slipping in the bath with Bryce. His lust filled eyes watched my every move. Once was in, Bryce wrapped me in a tight embrace as we gently floated.
About 10 minutes later, Bryce got out of the large tub and dried off. I gave him his pajamas, which consisted of sweat pants and a white tee shirt. I helped him get in bed and Bryce snuggled into the blanket and pillows. God, I fell in love with the adorable man every single day. Trotting down the stairs, I received his medicine. I placed his soup and tea on a tray and brought it all up stairs.
"Bryce?" I called softly, setting the food on the table. I received no answer. Glancing over at the table, I giggled. Bryce has fallen straight asleep. His lips were slightly parted, small snores escaping his mouth. His eyelashes fluttered across his cheeks, and his hair was a mess, just the way I liked it. He was hugging a pillow close to his chest, his face burrowing in it. I bit my lip, wanting to feel his arms around me. I changed into one of Bryce's extremely large shirts, replacing the pillow with my body. Bryce seemed to like the switch, wrapping me in a cocoon of blankets with him. I placed a tender hand on his cheek, pecking his forehead. Bryce smiled slightly, nuzzling my neck. I yawned, leaning my head on his chest and slowly falling asleep to the slow dance of his heart.
Hope you liked it! It was a bit challenging to write, because I'm on my phone, so excuse the mistakes I made!
