Sixteen years old. Sixteen year old Y/n was the only sixteen year old she knew that didn't already have her license. It was rough for her, not being able to feel like she fit in at Midtown. Until she transferred schools to a prestigious boarding school just outside of New York. There she made friends, and enemies.

Her mom and dad expected more from her than she could live up to. They expected her to be like her older siblings. "How can you expect me to be like them if I don't even have a license!?" She often countered. She was never really home. She never cared much for her family. There was no one that made her feel safe and loved. Except for her older sister.

At sixteen, Y/n, and a couple of her friends decided to sneak into an Oscorp facility and cause chaos. Sneaking in a building is quite easy for a three gymnasts and martial artists. One of them being a hacker. "Hey. Y/n, Esmeralda. Over here." Glenn called to her and the blonde girl beside her. Y/n walked over to where her friend was kneeling beside an electric panel. "What's that do Glenn?" Y/n asked him, kneeling as well to get a closer look at the device on the wall. "Well -" he turned his attention to the third wheel. Esmeralda! Get over here!" He whispered furiously to the girl who was too busy admiring herself in the glass of the window to care. Both Y/n and Glenn rolled their eyes and turned back to the panel. "Well, as I was saying, cut this blue wire here and ch-chk. All power on this floor goes out." Glenn snickered as he pulled his cutting pliers and closed them around the blue wire. And just as he had said, all the power seemed to cut out immediately. Esmeralda shrieked. "Guys! The power's out!"

"Yes, Essy. If you would've paid attention to Glenn you'd know why." Y/n rolled her eyes and clicked on her phone flashlight. "Let's go." She motioned for her two friends to follow her as she carefully made her way forward. After a little while of walking she stopped abruptly. Causing Glenn and Esmeralda to bump into her. "Ouch!" The blonde girl exclaimed. "Shhh!" Glenn responded, turning on his flashlight as well. "I can't help it if I get hurt. I don't own a phone like you guys." She pouted moving beside Y/n. Y/n smiled at her as she gave her a side hug. "We know Essy."

"Guys! Spiders!" Glenn informed them suddenly. And maybe a little too enthusiastic. "Where?!" Esmeralda shrieked, hiding behind Y/n. "In this room. Pretty cool right?" Glenn walked inside the dimly lit room with Y/n following close behind. As Y/n walked into the room she noticed something. "Hey, you guys. If the powers out then where is the light coming from?" Esmeralda pointed out.

"For once you have a point." Glenn replied, tapping on a spider's class case. "Look!" Y/n exclaimed as she pointed at a specific glass case. She noticed that a spider itself was glowing bright enough for the spacious room to be lit enough to see without flashlights. "Woah... A glowing spider?" For once, Glenn seemed to be dumbfounded. All three teens wandered towards the glass case and just stared. Y/n smirked and handed her phone to Glenn. "I'm going to hold it."

"What?! Are you crazy?! That thing is literally glowing!"

"I know right!" Esmeralda said in a 'go for it' kind of way. Glenn turned his attention from Y/n to the other girl. "Not like that." He hissed at her. "Then like what?" She countered. Y/n blocked out their argument as she was drawn even further to the glowing spider. She slowly lifted the stainless steel lid and carefully picked up the spider. She grinned as the spider seemed to settle into her hand. "Hey there little arachnid. I'm Y/n." Just then the lights cut on in the spider room, startling the spider causing it to bite the girl that held it. "Ouch!" She whispered as the spider fell out of her hand and left a growing wepp on Y/n's wrist. As her wrist burned in pain and her vision doubled she heard the voice of Glenn telling her that they needed to leave. "Okay... Coming." She slurred. Sometime during their hasty escape, Y/n's phone was dropped and forgotten about.

Y/n crawled through her bedroom window and collapsed on her bed in pain. Her head was spinning and dark spots clouded her vision. She groaned as chills ran across her entire body, while she covered herself with her huge blanket. Then she let herself fall asleep to the sound of her parents yelling at the TV.

The next morning was much better for her. She felt a million times better and her parents were probably sleep. She quietly made her way down the hall of her mid-sized apartment. She gasped, when she noticed a strange man in her house talking to her sister. "Listen," the older girl protested with tears in her eyes. "We don't owe you anything. You have enough money. Please. Just leave us alone."

"And come across as soft? Not a chance L/n." Y/n gasped as the man pulled out a gun. "Final chance. Give me the money."

"Absolutely not!" Y/n's sister protested. The man placed the gun to her head. "Give. Me. The money."

"I -" Y/n's eyes met her sister's. And while the man followed his captive's gaze, Y/n's sister whispered, "Run." And Y/n did just that. Just as a gunshot went off. She felt as she was running faster than she ever had before. She slightly noticed that she passed a motorcycle on her way. She found herself instinctively jumping to a rooftop. She didn't think about it as she just sat there and sobbed her heart out.

Knowing now, that there was no one left that could, or would, ever love her.
