Red Autumn
"Where it all began.."「I never really thought much about how you would mask your emotions with your beautiful smile.. I just liked to pretend everything was fine just by looking at it..」
-Gojō Satoru「Using people was the foundation of how I held power within this clan. But I can't seem to understand why I didn't have the guts to use you..」
-Minamoto Sayuri-----
November, 18, 1989
That was the day. The birth of the child who would forever change the future.
She was born into a clan, a clan of prosperity and lineage. A clan descending from one of the greatest spirits to have ever walked the Earth, Tomoe no Myōbu, the fox spirit. A clan cursed with deceit and never-ending thirst for power. A clan hated by the gods.
Her father, a clan head who had ambitions greater than the world knew, and her mother, a vying woman who wanted nothing more than power.
She was the epitome of perfection, in possession of the clan's most wanted trait, 'The Eyes of Tomoe', the eyes the could deceive even the wisest of men. Her father, envious of her power, wanted her dead more than anything else.
On the day of her birth, like a curse of the heavens, she was granted the name-
"Sayuri. I shall name her Sayuri. Suited for such an irrelevant one like her.."
Her name was nothing short of a curse. As if it was purposely given for her mockery. Her brothers and sisters were given the names akin to warriors, poets, philosophers.. But why was she given such a name?
A little white lily. That was what they saw her as. A flower easy to crush and wilt.
"Be the best, Sayuri. I don't want you to bring more shame to me.." Her mother said to her over and over again, as if it were a mantra needed to be sang.
Barely a month later, a young boy would be born, taking what was left of what she deserved. The title of 'The Strongest'.
Gojō Satoru, a child from the Gojō clan, an enemy clan of her kin. He, who was born with the blessings of gods. He, who was born with Limitless and Six-eyes. The Honored One.
The Minamoto clan sought to rid of the child, seeing him as a threat to their rising power. This, in turn, created a heated debate between both clans, refusing to admit the latter is stronger than the other.
But they never would have thought that their most valuable children would meet and become acquainted to each other..
--------------
"You are.. Gojō Satoru.. Is that correct?"
That was the first time he saw her. It was already autumn. His clan had been invited by the Zen'in clan to a grand banquet held at their estate in Tokyō.
He had gotten bored of the nosy adults who kept talking about politics and decided to go out into the gardens. A servant did try to come with him but he refused, asking for directions instead.
But he never expected to meet her then and there.
The young girl asked, smiling slightly as she looked over at him. Her auburn hair seemed to dance with the wind but there was something else about her that took his attention.
His white hair contrasted the darker hue of hers and his beautiful face seemed to perfectly leave a lasting impression on her. But her eyes..
They were like golden wells luring him in. They were beautiful, again contrasting his own. He would often admit his eyes being beautiful but hers were more..enticing to look at. The way the crimson rings blended in with the yellow hue of her irises.
He looked at her face but kept a cold demeanor.
"I am.. And you must be Lady Minamoto?" He responded, still maintaining the distance between them.
She nodded, albeit gracefully as she stepped forward from the pavilion. Her sandals met with the hard ground as the soft sounds of her footsteps were heard in the somewhat serene garden.
She stopped just a few steps away from him, smiling elegantly at him. She was beautiful but he often noticed how her smile never reached her eyes.
"I did not expect to meet a Gojō in here. Perhaps fate brought us here together.." She said, her soft and pinkish lips parting as she spoke.
How could someone remain so elegant even just by standing there? He never truly understood why she acted that way.
She often felt guarded, only wearing a smile on her face that had a hidden agenda. Her smile looked all too similar to her father's as if warning him not to lower his guard at all costs.
"Now, now. Don't get too lost in my beauty, Gojō. We are still enemies.." She joked, making him snap out of his thoughts.
He looked at her before shrugging her words off and walking past her. He wasn't going to let some Minamoto toy with him.
His reaction almost made her laugh, walking after him as a form of mockery. But she never would have thought that that moment would lead to a strong companionship that would rival thousands and thousands.
Both of them never knew that at that same day, they lives would be intertwined with each other into an uncertain destiny they would never expect.

A/N: Happy belated birthday to Gojō Satoru! I actually wanted to publish this yesterday because I was quite free at that time. And now I hope that you all like this 'reboot'. I changed a few things about it and made some tweaks on Sayuri's backstory.
Have fun reading!
