This is a story of a man named Shane, and his beautiful wife, Lyla. But let me take you back in time to when they met.
Shane Donovan was eighteen years old at the time. He has always loved dogs, and he decided to volunteer at a local animal shelter. One day at the shelter, he was helping set up for an event at the shelter, when Shane noticed a girl walking her dog. The dog noticed the man and the dog ran over to him and jumped on him.
"Ronan!" The lady called to the dog to stop. "Slow down!" The dog broke away from the leash and then he jumped on Shane and gave him tons of kisses, Shane was laughing and petting the lovable dog.
"Ronan! I am so sorry, he's not trained well enough!" She explained as she took the leash again.
"No you're totally fine!" He said as the dog got off him. "I love dogs, and I'm used to it!"
"I'm Lyla, this is my dog Ronan, whom you've already met!" She chuckled.
"It's very nice to meet you, Lyla, I'm Shane." They shook hands, and they smiled.
"Do you work here?" Lyla asked him.
"Yes, sort of, I'm volunteering."
"Oh that's so nice! Do you like dogs?"
"Yes, they are my favorite animal! I've always loved them!"
"Me too!"
They continued to talk while Shane continued working. Ronan was playing with the other dogs, and Lyla was helping Shane set up as they talked.
When they were done, Shane asked Lyla,
"Do you drink coffee?"
"Yes, I love coffee" She answered.
"How 'bout I take you for coffee?" He offered.
"Do you know a place that is pet friendly?" She asked.
"Actually yes, I do! It's right down the street! What do you say?"
"We'll, alright" Lyla agreed.
So Shane took Lyla to the coffee shop. When they got there they ordered their coffee, and sat outside on a bench.
"So what other hobbies do you have?" Lyla asked.
"I love listening to music, and I love singing! Music is a big part of my life." He stated
"I love music too!! I don't go a day without listening to at least one song!"
"I'm the same way!" Shane added . "What kind of music do you like to listen to?"
"Well, I know people make fun of it a lot, but I actually really enjoy Pop music."
"Really? I do to!" Shane said excitedly.
"That's so cool! Every time I tell somebody that, they always say it's cringe!"
"They do that to me too!"
"I do mainly only listen to one creator, but I listen to others occasionally." Lyla said.
"Who do you listen to?"
"It's this Irish boy band called Westlife, their not very popular at all in the U.S. unfortunately."
Shane looked dumbfounded, then said.
"You actually know Westlife?!"
"..Yes, do you?"
"Yes!! They are my favorite music artists!!"
"Mine too!!"
"This is crazy! Nobody ever knows who they are!"
"I know right?" Lyla agreed.
"This just made my day!" Shane smiled, his hand on his heart.
"Me too! And you also have the same name as Shane Filan!"
"I know! My parents didn't know who Westlife was when they had me, I always loved that detail about me... oops, did that come off as narcissistic? I'm so sorry, that was unintentional!"
"Oh no, you're fine! I do the same kind of things!" Lyla reassured him.
"We'll then, do you want to listen to some of their songs now?" Shane suggested.
"Of course I would!"
They listened to a lot of songs and continued talking for about an hour. And they exchanged numbers.
They continued to text and call each other, and went out frequently. After about three months like this, Shane asked Lyla to be his girlfriend, and she said yes!
