The horror in the halls

The cocoon and the fool

As the alarms we set went off at 2:30 am, startling us all awake from our sleep. We all stood up and started preparing for our rescue mission all of us getting our knives, Jess and Bo wearing the wet floor sign armour, and me and Ash making sock lock weapons. As we all finish getting prepared we start to remove the barricades from the door.

Dakota checks the halls and gives the thumbs up that the coast is clear and we all file out of the classroom including Mr.Medd, we start quietly walking down the hallway to the intermediate stairs, at a quick pace we make it there and down the stairs to the hallway leading to the side library door.

We stand outside of the door looking in to see if there are any teachers, seeing no one I walk in first with everyone close behind, I turn around to whisper to everyone "Okay guys..spread out and try to look for a pink bow popping out of the cocoon." Everyone nodding and spreading out to search.

Students are strung up on chairs and bookcases, attached to them with what looks like webbing and there has to be at least 100 students cocooned around the library. I start to search near the couches as everyone takes different corners, there doesn't seem to be any patrol at this time of night which should make this go smoothly.

As we are searching I hear Ash call out that they had found her, and we all rush over to the librarians desk where attached to the side of it there was a cocoon with a pink bow peaking out. Mr.Medd steps forwards and carefully cuts the webbing off and Sophie falls onto the floor, the dried blood on the back of her hair very noticeable. Ash and Kaia go to help Sophie up, once on her feet seeming very dazed and confused and mumbling "What..what happened..why are we in the library?" 

After Kaia had caught Sophie up on what was going on and the teachers becoming mutated there was less confusion in her gaze. After Mr.Medd made sure that Sophie wasn't badly concussed and could walk on her own we all huddled to make a game plan to leave.

We had agreed that since no teachers seemed to be guarding the library that the school would be decently safe, Jess bringing up the fact that they had to pee we agreed that Me and Jess would go to the bathroom and meet everyone else in Mr.Medds classroom to go back to sleep. And so the 6 of them left through the side door as me and Jess went toward the gym bathrooms.

Me and Jess walk through the halls and make it to the foyer, crossing it quickly to try to avoid anyone who might be lurking around. We quickly duck into the girls gym washroom and me and Jess use our respective stalls, once we were done peeing we left the stalls and just started talking outside of them.

Jess then says "All of this honestly has me needing some hauls right now." Jess takes their vape out from their pocket and takes a few puffs and hands it to me, I take a few as well to get some relief from the stress that has come from the events  today. As I hand Jess back her vape I hear a sound that makes my stomach drop, large fast foot steps.

And before I can react the door bursts open and Mrs.Methead is 2 feet in front of me, foaming at the mouth and heaving as she screeches "NO VAPING AT SCHOOL!" and she lunges at Jess who was currently mid-haul, grabbed her by the back of the head and smashed her head into the bathroom tile, a mess a blood and brain matter splatting around like a bingo dabber. 

I scream in horror as Mrs.Methead starts biting into the limp lifeless body in front of me, I quickly book it out the door and as i turn to go towards the gym I stop and freeze at the sight before me. Inside the big gym the entire thing is covered in webbing, hundreds of cocoons strewn about the dimly lit nest, and the large thumps of the sound of something massive moving in the darkness. 

I quickly turn around because, fuck that! And sprint as fast as I can up the foyer stairs, as i'm running down the hallway I see Mr.Apples down the science hallway and if i saw him he definitely saw me...fuck.

I try to run faster as I hear Mr.Apples running after me shouting "NO RUNNING IN THE HALLS!! STOP AND GET TO CLASS!" I turn the corner and sprint to Mr.Medds door and bang as hard as i possibly can while yelling "GUYS OPEN UP!! I'm being chased you need to open up like NOW!" I hear shuffling on the other side of the door as the booming footsteps get louder.

I see Mr.Apples turn the corner as Mr.Medds classroom door opens and i'm pulled inside, everyone looking at me confused as to why i'm alone. I look around at the group and barely manage to say "Jess is dead.. Methead killed her."

And everyone was silent.
