Chapter O1 ⨾ Goodbyes, Introductions, and Strategies.
The world stopped moving in slow motion for Inez once the peacekeepers pulled her into the justice building.
They led her into a waiting room. It was so silent, so still.
The silence was shattered once the rest of the Stark family flooded into the room in a rather panicked state.
"You have five minutes," one of the peacekeepers announced while standing by the door.
Ilaria immediately pulled her daughter into a tight hug. Inez didn't realize how badly she needed one. How badly she needed her loved ones' silent assurance that they'll be rooting for her until she wins her games or dies trying.
Levi made his way towards Inez once his wife pulled away, hand covering her mouth as she weeped silently.
He put his hands on his daughter's shoulders to pull her back to reality, "Listen to me, Inez," he said with choked sobs being restrained, "I know you. I know you want to make it out of there for us. But please, while you are in that arena, be selfish for once. Be your first priority, please. Worry will only be a distraction," he slightly begged while the girl nodded.
Inez could barely form any words. Her thoughts translated into silence.
But she couldn't cry, no. She had to tuck her emotions away to prove to her family, and to herself, that she had the guts to make it out alive.
Levi pulled the girl into an embrace, "We love you, Nez. Know we'll be rooting for you all throughout," he assured the young girl.
So. Bad. Inez wanted to scream and cry and break a vase or two so bad. But if she wanted a fighting chance, she had to keep her composure.
