The race was on right now and it quickly escalated to one, big mess. After only few laps Lando was leading which caused me to almost loose my hearing after everyone in the garage started shouting. Unfortunaletly our happiness didn't last long since it started raining causing him to loose grip and spin into the gravel losing 5 positions.

But he didn't give up, without even whining on the radio he just came in for a quick change of tires, just like the rest of the grid did and got back out there quickly recovering 2 places. John was forwarding him informations about the gap between him and Charles with such shaky voice I could feel my own throat itch.

They tried closing the gap for another few laps, when Norris could finally somewhat safely get past him. It didn't surprise me that Charles was not happy about the way he did it, but thankfully  they didn't touch and Lando was not under any investigation.

Since it got a bit calmer on his side I walked a few steps to stand next to Daniels mechanic and ask out about his race.

''Will he able to keep those tires good?''

''I am not sure Olivia, I think we might have to call him in...'' He saw my face drop. ''But a podium is still possible!'' We both smiled at each other not really believing his words.

It made my heart break for him, because he was driving incredibly this whole race. When everyone was surprised by the rain, causing them to make a few mistakes, he acted as if it didn't bother him at all. He really deserved that podium today.

I saw that the voting for the driver of the day opened and I quickly pulled out my phone giving my vote out to him. Hopefully a lot of people agreed with me on this one, cause I know that this would make him feel a bit more appreciated and good, no matter the results.

The second I did that I nervously looked around me making sure that there was no camera pointed at me. That I did not think about, but thankfully I didn't catch anyone. It still feels weird to publicly support someone more than Daniel, but at the end of the day I know that he cares more about the support I give him behind closed doors.

Back at the ''right'' side of the garage I glued my face back to the screen seeing that Lando easily took back Daniels starting P3, leaving him only the Aussie and Max to fight. I heard Johns voice saying that he's quicker than Danny, who agreed to give him an easy pass. The camera showed us Lando passing him with a little thank you wave and a thumbs up from Dan.

I did admire the ability to let the other one through because I know how obsessed with winning they are. They have to be if they want to achieve great things in this sport and yet they are able to shush down their adrenaline for a second and play in the favor of the whole team.

Not long after that Danny quickly dived down for a tyre change, causing him to loose out on the podium by Charles, which he probably won't be able to catch in just 6 laps that we have left. I know that he probably preferred keeping the old ones until the finish line, but they were so done already he had no grip or pace left in them.

And I was right, he finished P4. If he could have maybe 5 or 6 more laps I'm sure he would pass him, but unfortunately that's how this sport works. It doesn't always reward you the way you deserve to be awarded. My grimace was a bit smaller the second I saw that he at least got the driver of the day.

''What are you waiting for? Your boy is on the podium!!'' I felt Johns hand grab me and drag me out of the garage and to our podium finishers.

I spiraled so much into thinking about Danny I did not catch Lando finishing in P2, but as soon as I saw him I felt the happiness flood me.
