Part I: Unexplained Consequences

I woke up on what felt like a cold, hard floor. I don't remember what happened or how I even got here, all I know is that I could sense a lot of trouble around me. Ahsoka would always tell me to be aware of my surroundings, especially as a Jedi. She would be scoffing in disappointment if she knew just how badly I fucked up in this situation. I tried to open my eyes, but everything was so dark, I couldn't see anything in front of me.

"Hello?"

Why did I do that... Excellent decision making on your part, Sabine. You're just a bag of bad decisions, no wonder Ahsoka doubted you as her apprentice..

"Hi."

A voice responded back to me. It took me a moment to recognize it, but as soon as I did, I reached for my blasters... which weren't at my side, and neither was my lightsaber. How did I fuck this up so badly...

"S-stay back!"

I couldn't sense her through the Force, but I knew she was dangerous. I was surprised her Master wasn't with her, since they were always joined at the hip. She turned on the overhead light, which nearly blinded me as my eyes just got used to the dark.

"You are Sabine Wren, yes?"

I stared at her. Shin Hati was her name. I remembered from what her Master called her once. I might not have had weapons, but I could still defend myself if need be.

"I said, stay back, Shin! I don't know how you blindsided me, but once my Master realizes I'm missing, you're going to be in for a world of hurt, that includes your Master!"

I had hoped my threats swayed her, but instead she just stared at me and I felt a blush creeping through my cheeks. Of course, my hormones would be raging in situations like this... I'm clearly not cut out to be a Jedi.

"I... I'm not going to hurt you, Sabine. I know that sounds absolutely preposterous giving the situation I put you in, but... I really need someone to talk to... please.."

I relaxed slightly. I've never seen her like this before, she's usually a murderous, soulless demon hell-bent on killing Ahsoka and I, but seeing her in this vulnerable state... part of me was tempted to overtake her.

"I'm surprised you have a soul, seeing as how every one of our encounters you tried to kill me and my Master. Why the hell should I give you a chance to talk? Your Master could be behind the door waiting to kill me, and you're just leading me on."

She just stood there. And that's when it clicked.

"Your Master abandoned you, didn't he? He left you on this planet."

And then she finally sat down in front of me, a slight, small nod.

"Now you understand... When your Master offered her hand to me, I was tempted to take it. Seeing you with Ezra Bridger filled me with something I didn't even think was possible and I didn't want to face it. But after Thrawn left and my Master disappeared to follow some stupid prophecy, I had nobody. I was tempted to go back to the pirates, but they rejected me. So I captured you while you slept and dragged you to the ruins of the fortress. You're very heavy for a small girl, by the way."
