Part III: Hope Springs Forth New Lives

I didn't know exactly what time it was when I woke up, all I know is that I had my pants on one side of the floor and my armor off. I smiled to myself as I stretched myself back into shape and noticed Shin by the fire with a pot.

"I hope I didn't wake you up, you looked so cute sleeping, I... wanted to make us some food. Don't worry, I didn't harm any animals on the island. Your Master sent us some rations from the ship after it... crashed." 

I facepalmed and groaned. That was... not my finest hour, and because of that, we were marooned here for who knows how long. I know Ahsoka told me that we were where we needed to be at the time, but that didn't make me feel any less worse about it... the only highlight was the hope that Ezra made it back home somehow...

"Sabine? You zoned out again... you do that a lot, and... I worry..."

I tried to relax myself, but it was too much of a struggle so I just sat with my knees up to my chest. 

"I'm sorry for worrying you so much... I've just got a lot of shit stirring in my head and it's difficult for me to settle it..."

Shin swirled the spoon around the pot. It smelled... interesting, to say the least.

"That sure smells... interesting, Shin... are you sure Ahsoka sent that to you?"

Shin shrugged as she took a sniff from the pot and cringed.

"This smells worse than some of those farts you were letting out last night in your sleep. You weren't kidding when you told me that you fart a lot in your sleep. I'm sure that it probably tastes better than it smells, do you want to try it?"

I hesitantly grabbed a small bowl and let Shin pour the contents into it as I took a taste. It tasted like... I don't even know how to describe it, but it didn't really taste great.

"This tastes horrible... I think these went bad, Shin."

Shin cringed as she nodded, pouring the soup back into the pot and removing it. 

"So, I was thinking..."

I raised an eyebrow.

"What if we made this cavern a hideaway? I know we have the camp and your Master, but what if we... didn't go back? I want to be my own person, I want to explore these new feelings with you for as long as I possibly can. And I'm sure you agree with me..."

I pondered the situation. It would be nice to just... be by ourselves and not have to worry about the fate of the galaxy... maybe this was what Ahsoka meant by being where we needed to be here on Peridea. And I mean... Shin's really fucking hot, it takes everything I have in me to control myself when I'm near her. 

"I think that sounds like it could be a new experience, but one I'm absolutely willing to share with you, Shin... it'll be scary, but we've faced scarier shit before."
