Knight In Shining Armour - First Meetings

The air was clear and pure as the snow falling at the dawn of what seemed a "perfect" morning. The birds sang their songs as they freely explored the atmosphere around them, the birds could do what they liked, my situation was different.

Enslaved by Hachiman, "The Flesh-Trader" he liked to call himself. I wasn't the only one, I was with two other girls, they seemed younger than I was. They seemed sweet but I never knew their names, I never had the time to learn them. All I knew about them was that they too, were bought off their fathers who had no use for them, and that they also had no further use in Hachiman's plan than to be sold off to the brothel.

The air was not only clear, but it was cool, the cold air made me feel safer than I've felt in a long while. Hachi was bringing me and the other two girls to some small shack out of the public. The atmosphere of the place was awful, light only emitted from the windows and through the moving cloth over the doorway.

Everyone inside seemed miserable, I felt nothing but pity for the single worker when I walked in.

His employer, or should I say father, as he called him whilst being ordered around, seemed more abusive than Hachiman was to me. The only difference was I was bought more than 7 years ago now, the poor boy was born of his seed.

We were similar, but could never be alike.

"Oi! Stumpy! Three bowls of noodles! And fast!" screamed Hachiman.

I hated that man. I hated my father for selling me to him. I hated this life I had now been forced to live. I longed for "a knight in shining armour," at least that was the western term for it. But knowing my luck, no such event was ever to happen.

The boy making the soba came over to our table with a smile despite his awful situation, as he presented the soba before me and the other girls.

"Eat up, you'll never be worth more than a common whore if you don't." barked Hachiman, "Be grateful I even pay for food at this point." he says finally, before eyeing off the other customers who exchanged glances at us, whispering words of pity as they did so.

I picked up my bowl of soup, it was warm, it reminded me of the place I came from before my wretched father sold me off. He was a stupid man for doing so, and where I am now is all his fault. I sipped from my bowl, eyes slightly widening at the flavourful taste and the perfectly cooked noodles, I reluctantly took the bowl from my mouth back to my hands. Knowing, if I'd ate anymore in one go, Hachiman would force me to have more than I could handle.

A man swiftly walked through the door behind us, letting in the soft breeze with him, I felt it on my back letting out a sigh of relief along with it, before he walked past as quickly as the breeze had came.

The owner tells his son to go serve the customer, I only hear the words "big hat" escape his mouth before my interest turns to the man himself. He wore a large kasa, which I'd assume would be the reason the owner referred to him as "big hat".

His eyes were covered by orange tinted glasses, which piqued my interest, "Why would he be wearing them?" I thought to myself, contemplating silently as I softly set down my finished bowl.

The server walked over to him, cheerily speaking of what they had to offer, implying how they had the best soba, which I couldn't argue with. The man let out no response, simply replying in stares or nods, before the boy walked off to make him his assumed order.

The server hummed quietly as he went to what I'd guess was the kitchen before Hachiman had demanded more bowls.

Hachiman tells the other two girls to finish their first bowls quickly, reminding them of how he had payed their fathers handsomely for them. Every time that man mentioned one of our fathers it was like a stinging wound that he refused to stitch closed. It was a reminder of how our parents discarded us for such a low price, viewing us as nothing more than lowly whores, worth a few gold coins.
