It's been a month, and the winter has taken a total toll on the student populace. Winters for me bring a lot of memories, from my hometown. The mountains are blanketed in fog, giving the scene a surreal quality. The refreshing winter wind revitalizes me and inspires me to pen down more little pieces of my aspirations and desires. It was one fine evening when I was having dinner with Arjun and Aisha, and some group of friends when Arjun called out someone,
"Hey Vivan, here.." Arjun called while waving his hand to someone.
He was at our back, so we couldn't figure out who it was. But as soon as he came near Arjun, my eyes widened. Aisha was already grinning broadly as I turned to look at her. My heart began to race more quickly than before, and I felt out of breath simply by being around him."Hey, how are you, brother?" Arjun patted him
"I am good, bhaiya. How are you?"
"Yeah, I am fine as well. Why don't you join us for dinner? If you don't have a company." Arjun insisted
He glanced at us, and our gazes locked once again. The world seemed to freeze around me every time I looked into his stunning black eyes. My heart was still racing against time. He smiled briefly at Aisha and went on. "Uh okay, sure. I will just grab something to eat, and be right back,"
For a moment I was dumbfounded and I could see Aisha's grin. I looked at her and signaled her to stop. I couldn't help but smile a little. Arjun sensed something was up, and he was nodding at me like he knew something.
When he returned with his meal, Vivan sat down next to Arjun and faced me. I felt suddenly filled. Even though I went a whole day without eating, I was nevertheless impacted by Vivan's presence. Arjun and Aisha were giggling at something, which I couldn't get hold of. I scowled as I glanced at her, then turned to face Vivan, who was already staring at me. As we prepared to finish our supper, Arjun stated, "Oh well, Vivan, meet Arya. She is my friend and your senior, and Arya, meet Vivan, he is my junior in his second year of bachelors."
My eyes widened as soon as I heard "Second year of Bachelor's." I turned to face Aisha.
He is a little kid! That was my initial thinking. He was my junior by nearly two years! With broad smiles, we shook hands and said hello. His hands felt so strong. They were almost double the size of mine, and so strong. For the entire moment, my heart was running a 10-mile marathon, and I could hardly breathe.
We came back from our dinner, and I was sitting with Aisha, feeling so restless.
"Bro, I checked out and embarrassed myself in front of a fucking junior!" I said, still feeling breathless.
"Bro, it's fine, he probably doesn't even remember," Aisha said while caressing my back.
"He is something. Whatever I am feeling is so wrong...."
I was putting my head down on my hands, unable to handle this strange sensation. When I last saw him a month ago, he was incredibly attractive, towering above the ground and upholding decorum just with his eyes. I believed that he was a senior and that nobody could stand in his way. I saw him with Arjun today, and he looked like a complete geek with his hair disheveled, thick-rimmed glasses on, and a blue jacket covering off his muscular arms. And it seemed as though he was penetrating my soul with the way he was staring at me. He didn't even try to appear well; he just looked too wonderful. I didn't realize for a second that I was seeing someone else.
I just snoozed my alarm for the tenth time. My eyes squinted at the direct hit of sunshine on my face. I checked my phone, and it was 8:30!
"Shit! I am late!" I let out a scream and hurried to get dressed. I quickly showered and changed into an off-white hoodie and blue pants. I quickly did my skincare, put on my favorite lipstick, packed my bag, picked up my white sneakers, and dashed down the corridor. This was the first time, I got ready in 20 mins. On my way to class, I spotted a well-groomed Aisha waiting for me."I will be late because of you!" Aisha said, with a worried look on her face.
"I am so sorry, the alarm didn't ring.." I said apologetically
She gave me a side look as if she heard my alarm snooze.
As we made our way to our courses, I nearly bumped into someone while heading to the elevator."Sorry.." I said before looking up at the man
It was Vivan! I was looking at him with my mouth wide open. He was wearing a navy shirt, with sleeves folded, and grey formal pants pairing it up with white sneakers. I could barely contain my fascination as I stared at him. Doesn't this guy feel cold? I am freezing here, and two layers of clothing, and this guy comes up with only a shirt?
"It's fine, the lift is here." He said, bringing me back to reality.
I chuckled nervously and entered without realizing that it was only the two of us. He gave me a fleeting glance before heading outside to his lesson. I sighed with relief and made my way to my lesson. It was a hectic day, and I needed a good nap. I went back to my dorm and was almost about to sleep when I received a call. I looked at it, and it was from Aisha. Her calls persisted even after I made an effort to ignore them. I responded on the third call, "Where the fuck are you?", She asked, almost gritting her teeth.
"I am in my room, fucking someone," I replied
"Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, I don't care, I want to see you, in the cafeteria in 5 minutes." She said before hanging up the call.
I snarled and dashed toward the cafeteria, still wearing my pajamas and a cozy, fuzzy sweater. I froze the moment I saw Aisha and Arjun. Sitting at our table was Vivan. It appears that he has just returned from his workout. He had perspiration all over his gray t-shirt, and his hair looked disheveled and damp like having just gotten out of the shower. Aisha waved and beckoned me as soon as they turned to face him. I moved at a leisurely pace, expecting Vivan to just stand up and leave, but he remained seated. Shit, I am literally in my PJs. Damn you Aish! I pondered whether to move toward them or away from them when Vivan waved hi to me. I ended up having to take a seat next to him. his aroma was intoxicating to me. Damn, he even looks hotter after working out. I was in my intrusive thoughts when Aisha snapped me out of it.
"Are you still sleepy?" she asked.
I just rolled my eyes at her.
"Okay, so we called you guys, because, I and Arjun are planning a night out, so I want you both to come. We will book an Airbnb, and we can cook or order food and have a good time while exploring the city." Aisha said.
I looked at both of them, blankly.
"I don't think that will be a good idea, you both should go," I replied.
"Even I agree," Vivan said
"Areh! What's the issue Vivan?" Arjun asked
"Bhaiya, I am your junior, and also I have a lot of assignments to complete, especially when it is almost semester end," Vivan said
"And what's your excuse Arya?" he said, frowning an eyebrow toward me
"I too have a lot of assignments to complete as I am a latecomer, I have to cover it up," I replied
"Okay then, I guess it's just you and me babe," Aisha said, looking at Arjun.
We had a small snack before I went to my hostel for my precious power nap. I was almost about to enter my hostel when someone called my name,
"Arya...." I turned back to see who it was,
It was him, Vivan.
When he approached me, I felt something surging through me, my knees became weak, and my heart began to race.
He was saying something to me, looking directly into my eyes, but I couldn't get his addictive voice out of my head and the mole between his lips. I couldn't utter a word, but just nod. He bid me bye and turned towards his hostel.
As I turned, I had a wide smile plastered on my face.
