Gregor POV:
When Luxa opened the door, she looked tired, that's for sure. She made eye contact with me, and I smirked, seeing her eyes light up immensely. "GREGOR!" she practically jumped into my arms, holding onto me as if I was about to disappear any second. I held her tightly as well, and for a minute, it was just me and her, holding each other close. Then, I felt my shoulder start getting wet.
Luxa was crying. I held her impossibly closer and rubbed her back reassuringly. "You're back." she whispered. "Yeah, and I'm not leaving again." I picked her up and closed the door behind us. I set her down on the couch and sat next to her. Staring at her happily. "I missed you, Lux." She smiled like she had just won the lottery, even though she probably didn't know what that is, and pulled me close, "I missed you too, Overlander."
And then I kissed her.
When we parted for air, she was smiling even brighter, and rested her forehead against mine. Just then, Ripred had picked the perfect moment to barge into the chambers. "Are you two done smooching so we can go to dinner or what?" Luxa and I blushed and stood up. Nodding as we headed to the dining hall.
When we opened the door and entered, I immediately saw Howard glaring at me, no doubt because I was holding his cousin's hand. Vikus, Nerissa, Howard, Ripred, Hazard, Mareth, and Luxa and I were all there. We sat at the table, with Luxa at the head of the table, me and Ripred at her sides.
"Good to see you again Gregor. Though, not on the best circumstances." Howard pointed out. "I heard, something about another prophecy?" I asked. There was something about how everyone was looking around the room instead of at me, that had me concerned. I looked at Luxa, and she too wouldn't even meet my eyes.
Vikus was the first to speak up. "Yes, a prophecy had arisen, and I believe Nerissa should state it." All eyes fell on the frail girl, as she nodded her head and recited yet another prophecy.
When the Warrior is revived
And the Queen is charged
The claws shall have arrived
Regalia is dead and barged
Will he save them all
Or will the Underland fall
It was silent. The words echoing throughout the room and falling upon everyone. It took me a minute to comprehend it. I glanced towards Luxa, who's eyes were on my in a questioning manner, looking as though she was asking if I was ok and wondering how I would take another prophecy, seeing as I had been in so many as is. "Well, let's try to decipher it." I stated, trying to act confident, even though I was scared out of my mind.
Ripred nodded at me and spoke, "I agree with the pup. Sitting here scared about what we think might come will not help us in any way." Everyone regained their composure and started chatting amongst themselves. "Are you alright, Gregor?" I glanced to who had spoken to me and saw Luxa with that worried look still plastered on her face. "I'm fine, Lux. Just a little confused at the moment." She nodded her head. And we started deciphering.
"'When the Warrior is revived' must mean that you will have to fight again, Gregor." Vikus said. I winced, memories flooding my mind, and I held Luxa's hand under the table for comfort. "'And the Queen is charged' that could mean multiple things. Charged by court, charged for money, etc." I stated, everyone got confused when I said charged for money. I forgot that they still live in the fifteenth century or however old Sandwich was.
"'The claws shall have arrived' referring to gnawers I presume." Mareth stated. "We have instated peace with the gnawers though?" I commented, quite confused. "There are still some gnawers that support what the... Bane was trying to accomplish." Luxa replied, pausing before she commented the Bane's name. "'Regalia is dead and barged' maybe meaning that Regalia was invaded?" Howard guessed, still glaring daggers at Luxa and I. Luxa visibly tensed and squeezed my hand tighter, at the mention of Regalia being invaded.
"'Will he save them all' referring to Gregor most likely becoming the Warrior again and saving Regalia and our allies, I presume." Vikus stated. Luxa nodded her head and recited the final line, "'Or the Underland will fall', meaning if he doesn't save us, then the Underland will fall." Suddenly all eyes were on me, and I felt my face grow hot.
Just then, a flier entered the room, and made a beeline for me. I realized what it was trying to do, and dodged it's claws just in time. It was trying to attack me. I dodged and rolled away from it, as it kept swooping in to get me. By this time, everyone was out of their seats trying to get to me. The flier dived at me one more time, and this time, it managed to get a big gash down my thigh as I tried to dodge its attack.
I was bleeding immensely, trying to stand up. The flier came at me once more, this time sinking its claws into my shoulders and picking me up. It dragged me out of the dining room and flying over the Regalian streets. The last thing I saw before I blacked out was Luxa's horrified gaze pointedly at me.
** I know the prophecy is short, but I can't think of anything else. 😭**
