When I awoke, I saw a gnawer above me, smirking. "The great Warrior is finally awake, I see" I groaned and got up, the wounds on my thigh and shoulders throbbing greatly. There were about ten gnawers surrounding me, looking ready to feast. "You are the only thing that is in our way from ruling Regalia, not for long however." one of them muttered. And then they lunged at me.
I couldn't dodge them, since I could barely stand as is. So, I just stayed on the floor, unable to defend myself as the gnawers lunged at me, attacking me and causing more injuries in my body.
After a few minutes of torture, they walked away, towards the exit of the room, and leaving me to die, or not. If i didn't die, they would probably torture me some more. Which is something I do not want, but, i also don't want to die. They're not leaving me with much leverage, are they?
At this point, it felt like I would pass out any minute, but I knew I had to survive. For my family, for my friends.
I tore off a piece of my shirt, and used it as a tourniquet for the wound on my thigh. I braced myself, before tightening it. I screamed, but it was most likely muffled by the concrete walls. I panted heavily, trying to regain my breathe as I tried to figure a way out of here. But my chances weren't looking great.
Luxa's POV
That idiot. How does he always manage to get into these positions. I kept criticizing Gregor in my head as I walked down the halls, towards the royal chambers.
We just sent out a search party for Gregor, armed with our best guards. Howard insisted I stayed, which is most likely why he has a large bruise on his forehead from where a book was accidentally thrown at him for his input. I entered my room, pacing around as Aurora watched me worriedly. "Luxa, you need to rest. I too am worried Gregor, but you do the kingdom no good by pacing around." She purred.
I sighed, knowing she was right as I sat on the couch in my room. "I am just worried about him, Aurora. He comes down here to reunite with us, and suddenly he's thrown into another one of our problems and taken."
Aurora stays silent and just wraps her wings around me comfortingly.
Gregor's POV
The gnawers just left the room again, this time deciding to puncture their claws into my legs. I now had multiple holes in my legs, that didn't go completely through my legs, just to the bone.
The floor of the room was basically just a puddle of blood, and I was no better. As soon as I tried to sit up, I blacked out.
I woke up who knows how long later, feeling way worse. There were no new wounds, but the other ones were obviously worse.
I closed my eyes, accepting my fate of death. But death apparently didn't agree, because I heard a struggle outside my room, along with swords clanking. A few moments later, Mareth, followed by some guards, entered the room.
When he saw me, he paled. and that's saying a lot since everyone around here normally looks like a ghost.
Then I blacked out. Again. I really need to stop doing that.
Luxa's POV
A guard entered my room, informing me that they found Gregor, though not in a good state.
I immediately rushed to the hospital, asking for the Overlander. The nurse hesitantly took me to his bed, and when I saw him, I almost cried. He was covered in puncture wounds, gashes and blood.
I took his hand and pulled up a chair, waiting for him to wake.
Eventually the nurse took him to clean him up and work on his wounds. I still stayed in the chair, waiting for him to be ok.
Gregor's POV
When I woke up again, I was in the hospital, and saw Luxa sitting at my side, asleep. I smiled weakly, and played with her hair that was on the hospital bed. She stirred and woke up. I stared at her eyes when they met mine. She tackled me again, and I groaned "What happened?! Mareth said when he entered the room you were badly wounded!" I held her close and replied, "Yeah, I met those gnawers you were telling me about. Nasty claws."
She winced but didn't say anything and just kept her head tucked between my shoulder and neck. Just then, Howard decided it would be a wonderful time to pop his head in the room. "Gregor, what do you think you are doing with my cousin?" He asked calmly, but obviously holding back more emotions, that I really did not want to experience.
Luxa released me and stared at Howard dead in the eyes. "Howard, I am not a little child. You do not have to protect me. Gregor will not harm me and if he does, I am very capable of ripping him apart limb by limb." I paled at the last part, and slightly scooted away from her in my bed. She grabbed my hand and smiled sweetly at me as if to say, 'but that won't be necessary... right?'.
Howard took a deep breath and left the room after telling me I was free to go. Luxa looked at me and commented, "We have guards stationed to be with you, and they will be stationed outside your room unless you head somewhere." I realized that I basically had just become Luxa, with the extra protection and constantly being under watch.
I grabbed her hand and pulled her along with me to her chambers. She started laughing and I smiled at the sound. We entered her chambers, and I collapsed on her bed, and she fell on top of me aimlessly. I grunted, but we laughed, having fun like old times, and I realized that I really had missed the Underland, whether it gave me blood memories or not, I felt like I belonged here, with Luxa and the Underlanders.
Luxa cuddled into my chest, and I realized that this really isn't where I'm supposed to be. "Lux, this isn't my chambers, the guards will probably be looking for me, right?" I asked her. Not really wanting to leave, but not wanting to cause a distress. "Your chambers are down the hall now, they probably saw you head to my chambers, and will call you back when it gets too late." she mumbled into my chest, obviously ready to fall asleep. I held her closer and drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
