Chapter 10: Brotherly Care

Y/N stares at Leo, feeling scared, his harsh gaze bore into their soul. "W-What do you want to talk about?" Y/N takes a half step back, clutching tightly to the new phone Donnie gave them. Leo swings one of his katanas around onto his shoulder, placing a hand on his hip, "Why are you so scared? I just want to talk." Y/N can feel their heart racing in their chest, their breathing quickens, they go to take another step back and trip over the creaky floorboard. Leo goes to catch them but Y/N flinches away slamming into the ground, they curl into a ball crossing their arms over their defensively. "P-Please d-don't hurt me! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Y/N cries out in terror, Leo steps back shocked at their reaction. He puts his katana away and kneels down next to Y/N, he reaches out to tap their arm, but Y/N instinctively recoils as if they were hit. "Whoa! Hey, hey calm down. I'm not going to hurt you, are you alright? You hit the floor pretty hard." Leo was deeply concerned but gave Y/N their space to relax. After a few moments of nothing happening Y/N peeks over their arms to see Leo sitting down on the floor a few feet away, they sit up and count to ten trying to calm themselves. Reaching to touch the back of their head, they flinch in pain, they did hit the ground pretty hard, the back of their head throbbing in pain. Leo remains quiet, as he studies Y/N, making sure not to make any sudden movements. "I-I'm sorry..." Y/N mumbles softly. "No, no I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you like that, I just wanted to have a private chat. Are you sure you're, okay?" Leo asks concerned seeing them rub the back of their head.  

"Yea, just banged my head pretty hard, I'll be alright, I've had worse." Y/N whines, pitifully giving a smile. Leo looks sad for them, "What do you mean you've had worse? Did... Did someone hurt you?" Leo questions cautiously. Y/N simply holds their knees to their chest avoiding his eye contact, "I... I don't want to talk about it." Leo holds his hands up, "Gotcha, don't worry about it, but I do want to talk about something else. My brother, Donnie." Y/N's cheeks flush a soft pink, "W-What about him?" Y/N looks back over to Leo, he sees their blushed face. "You like him, don't you?" He asks with a sly smile. "Wha.. No! I mean yeah, but not like that! H-He's just so cool and smart." Y/N gets flustered and tried to over explain themselves, but Leo cuts them off. "No need to deny it, but a fair warning, if he feels the same and I mean IF, he will have a really hard time expressing it. First, he will over-analyze some mumbo jumbo, second, he will more than likely get you some sort of well thought out 'practical' gift and use some lame ass cover up because he gets embarrassed easily." Y/N tilts their head looking at Leo then they slowly drift their gaze to the phone in their hand then back up to Leo. "What?" Leo asks seeing Y/N distracted, they show him their new phone and his eyes go wide. "Wait, is that from Donnie!?" He shouts a little too loud. Y/N nods and shows him their old flip phone, "He said mine was ancient and that I needed an 'upgrade' he already put everyone's number in my contacts, in case I need help." Y/N's cheeks glowed red; you could almost see steam of embarrassment fizzle off from the top of their head.

Leo bursts out laughing falling over to his side, "Bwahaha! Oh my god! He has a crush on you!" He props himself up on one arm and sprawls out like some kind of fashion model, "Well, well, well with this new info at hand all I have to say is, be careful, be kind and be patient definitely be patient." Leo gives Y/N a wink then opens a portal underneath himself and falls through. Y/N is left sitting on the floor a complete emotional mess, thinking over what Leo had said to them. Could it be true? Does Donnie have a crush on Y/N? Does Y/N have a crush on Donnie!? Next thing they know their new phone buzzes, it's Raph! 'Hey! Somehow, I got your number on my shell phone, was wanting to let you know. I approve.' Was all the text read. Y/N was dumbfounded but another text came in, this time from Mikey, 'Booyakasha! Can't believe I didn't know your number was in my contacts! You're basically family already!' Oh, sweet innocent Mikey. Little did he know the effect that simple text would have on Y/N's already wrecked emotional state. Leo's text comes next, 'Wow looks like he hacked our phones and put your number in our contacts, that sly dog!' Y/N tossed their phone on their futon and buried their face in their hands, this was all too much too fast. They were just friends! Right?

Y/N sighed and decided to go wash up for the night, a nice hot shower will help clear their mind. Leaving the phone on the futon Y/N grabbed some clothes from the nightstand. Finding the photo of their parents and brother. "I wonder..." Y/N goes into their new phone and starts to search on the internet, maybe, just maybe, they could find their brother again. Y/N sighed, putting their phone down, another time. It's too soon for that, so they head off for the shower. As the warm water washes over them, they get flashes of their past mix with memories of more recent events. Could things really change for them? Finishing up and drying off Y/N goes back to their phone, should they try to reach out? Is so, to who? Their brother upriver, or Donnie? "I can't drag him into this, it's too messy, but would he understand?" Y/N said out loud to themselves as they sit on their futon staring blankly at their phone. Just as their nerves were settling getting ready for bed, a sudden loud knock is heard. 'Who could be here at this hour?' They thought to themself, they took a peek in the spyhole, but it was pitch black, someone was covering it up. "Oh, Y/N~ I know you're in there!" A familiar voice calls out. No, it can't be. Slowly Y/N cracks open the door, leaving the chain lock attached, standing before them, with two very large bodyguards, is none other than, Derrick, Y/N's abusive Ex-partner. "Nice to see you, Doll Face." He says menacingly with an evil smirk.
