Edward.

God damn this girl, man. He had clicked his tongue as he saw her sleeping on his bed. What a brat. He quickly found where she dumped his stuff, and just decided to let it go. He had no idea why his best friends little sister had started hating him so much, but he still remembers the change.

She used to smile when she saw him, she used to join him and Emmett while they were playing games, or going for drives. She used to be like a shadow for them, and then one day it just switched, and she refused to be in a room that he was already in. Honestly, while she was hanging around Edward paid no thought to it. She was his best friends little sister, she had probably just wanted to feel included. However, when she switched, he kind of started missing her company. He asked Emmett if he knew why Bella suddenly couldn't stand him, and he had shrugged.

"She's weird, man. I tried talking to her about it but she just doesn't want to talk about you." He sighed. "Who knows with her, knowing Bella she could hate you because you killed her puppy or because she slept wrong. God only knows, my money says she will be over it in a week."

He had been wrong, obviously. She had been 15, the boys 17 when this had begun. It's been ten years, and she still hated him, and he still didn't know why. He had given up trying to figure it out long ago, maybe Emmett was right about one thing. She slept wrong one night and woke up hating him. Whatever it was, it didn't matter anymore. Does he wish she didn't hate him? Of course. It would make things like this week easier for everyone.

Whatever. he wouldn't dwell on it. Or, he'd try not to. He glanced at his watch and realized he'd been stewing in his thoughts for a few hours, and his head turned towards the window. Fuck me. He thought as he took in the absolute monster of a blizzard that had started outside. He stood up and walked to the window, peering out. The location of this cabin was remote. And he knew if there was too much snow you couldn't get in or out of here. They'd be trapped. He left his room quickly to warn Bella, and got to her door, going to knock when he heard her voice.

"Bad news? What is it?" She said. He froze, not wanting to interrupt her call. Would it be weird if he waited? He debated for a moment before Bella's groan caught his attention. "Every flight is grounded? So there's no way for us to get out of here or you to get here?" Silence, and then. "So I'm stuck here with him? No. Absolutely not, I'll get a hotel." More silence, as Edward felt a pang in his chest. What had he done to her to warrant this hatred? "Emmett, I can't be here with him, and you know why.... Right... Yes... No, the storm is already bad here.. fuck, Emmett. How long? .. a few days? Fine, I'll stay. For you, but get here as soon as you can, okay?"

Edward left then, sadness, confusion, and frustration building inside him. What was her problem? Did she really hate him so much she couldn't stand to be with him for a few days? Damn it. He made it to the couch and sat down. A few minutes later, she appeared, not looking at him. He scowled at her. How fucking dare she? He didn't do anything to her. He's only ever been nice. Well, not anymore. It ends now. She wants to be enemies? He could be her enemy.

Yet, he found his eyes wandering over her, like they always did since they became adults, whenever they were near each other. He didn't see her often, but every time he did it stunned him. She was always prettier than he remembered. And as she got older and matured into herself, he found his attraction for her only grew, which made this hatred from her all the more annoying. She screamed at him, and he wanted to grab her hair in his fist and shut her up with his mouth. She glared at him, and he would think about how he could make that go away.

He shook his head while lost in thought, evidently he was still staring at her though, and she caught it, thinking he was shaking his head at her.

"What?" She sighed, seeming drained.

"Nothing at all." He responded, slouching back on the couch in defeat. She narrowed her eyes at him, and then walked to the fridge. She opened it up, taking in the contents inside before she found something to her liking. A beer. She takes it out and closes the fridge before wandering to a cupboard and hauling down a bag of chips. Edward doesn't mention that that's his beer, or his chips. They were probably going to be snowed in here for a few days for sure, meaning he would have to share.

She sat on the chair across from him, and opened the bag. She took one and glanced up at him, before holding out the bag. "Would you like one?" She asks.

He arches his brow and considers making a snarky remark about how he would love one of his own chips, but this was rare for Bella.. like a peace offering. He reaches across and slips his hand in the bag, taking a small handful. He sits back, and starts nibbling at them, lost in thought.

They're silent for a while, tension thick, Bella offering more chips every time he runs out. And finally, after he had gotten himself a beer and they had both had finished that with their snack, Bella spoke up.

"You've been thinking pretty hard." She says, it wasn't a question, but he nods. Trying to ignore the pang in his chest at the harshness in his voice whenever she spoke to him. "About what?"

He looks at her, and decides to be honest for once. "Just wondering what I did to you." He says simply.

"Excuse me?" She asks.

"To make you hate me." He elaborates. "Just wondering what I did to bring on Bella's wrath." She frowned at this, and her eyes close, and a look of sadness flashes across her face.

"I don't want to talk about this." She says, standing up from her seat and collecting her garbage. He stands up too, following her to the kitchen. She throws out her trash and spins on her heel, coming face to face with him.

"Please." He says. "I have no idea what I did and it's driving me crazy."

She smiles half heartedly, nodding. "Goodnight, Edward." She tells him, and escapes to her room. He stares after her, a frown on his lips.

He was going to get the truth, he didn't care how he had to do it.
