Bella

The hot water from the shower did wonders in soothing Bella's nerves. As her playlist played from her phone, she didn't even hear the lyrics from her favourite songs over her own mind. Her fingers lathering her shampoo in her long brown locks, she thought about Edward. About the moments they'd shared. It was the day after they fixed the generator, and she honestly couldn't get enough of him.

So far, the most he's seemed to want from her is a few stollen kisses, and his hands tended to find their way to her somehow all day. Like he couldn't resist touching her. It made her heart leap, as long dead feelings began rising from their graves. This could have been so easy if it was just sex, but they haven't even done that. It seemed like they had a connection, one that was completely unexpected. She had no idea if it was one sided, and she was afraid to ask. He'd probably laugh in her face.

She was so concerned by how the week was going to end that she finished her shower, getting out and drying off, getting herself dressed, drying her hair. All in a daze. It wasn't until she had finished braiding her hair that she seemed to snap back into her own head, out of the panic she was feeling. It was like skydiving without a parachute with Edward. She took the jump when they kissed, and now she couldn't go back. All she could do was enjoy the thrill of the fall before the bitter end, when it all crashes.

She glanced in the mirror at herself, adjusting her braid over her shoulder and nodding, believing she looked acceptable, better than she had before. She grabbed a book from her nightstand, and then she left her room in search of him. She didn't have to look hard, all she had to do was follow the sound of music from a guitar. Her stomach flipped as she remembered how talented he was musically, when they were teenagers it's one of the things that made her like him.

As she grew nearer, she heard his voice as he sung quietly to himself. She found him once again by the fireplace, and at first, he had no idea that she was watching him. His head hung over the guitar as he watched the chords he was playing, his hair, still damp from the shower he had taken an unruly mess. She knew the song he was playing, it was one she used to listen to often. Flightless bird, american mouth. She leaned against the door frame and crossed her arms, a smile on her lips as she watched him.

Her movements alerted him to her presence, and he looked up at her, his green eyes practically sparkling as he took her in. His notes stuttered for a second before he began playing the chords to a new song. His eyes didn't move from hers as he began singing..

"A drop in the ocean, a change in the weather, I was praying that you and I might end up together. It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert, but I'm holding you closer than most, because you are my heaven." She began walking towards him, but paused at the couch and sat there, curling up. He continued singing, his eyes not leaving her for a second. Her cheeks were warm, and she opened her book, pretending to read it, but she was simply listening to him. She kept glancing up, finding his eyes already on hers. He didn't look away for a second, taking her in.

He finished that song and morphed into It will rain by Bruno Mars. Her heart picked up, as he kept going, and she had a feeling his choice of music was intentional. She didn't want to hope, but could he be trying to tell her how he felt? She bit her lip, turning the page absently.

He stopped and she looked up at him, watching as he stood up and placed the guitar down. He didn't look at her as he walked to the opposite side of the room, where Emmett's stereo system was sitting. He connected his phone, opening Spotify and finding the song he had heard months ago that had him thinking about Bella. Not because of the song, or anything corny like that. He just remembered the artist being one of her favourites when they were teenagers, and now, in this moment, it seemed fitting to play it for her.
