MAYA & RAVEEN’S POV ✨✨✨
The soft glow of the MacBook screen flickered across Maya’s face as she mindlessly scrolled through a blank document. She was supposed to be brainstorming for their project, but her mind was everywhere except where it needed to be.
Raveen, lying back against the headboard with her blunt lazily resting between her fingers, exhaled a cloud of smoke. She watched Maya closely, amused by the way she avoided eye contact like it was life or death.
"Yo, Tiny, you good?" Raveen finally asked, stretching her legs out on the bed.
Maya hummed in response, pretending to be focused. "Mhm. Just thinking about the story."
Raveen smirked, tilting her head. "Yeah? 'Cause from here, it looks like you're thinking about something else."
Maya shot her a glare, then quickly turned her attention back to the screen. "We agreed on fantasy, right?"
"Yeah, yeah, but I'm sticking to romance. You know, more emotions and all that," Raveen said, waving a dismissive hand. She tapped her phone screen, debating whether to text Pearl back. She knew it was messy, but something about it made her want to see how far she could push things.
Maya, catching the way Raveen’s thumb hovered over her screen, rolled her eyes. "You’re really about to text her right now?"
Raveen grinned, not even trying to deny it. "What? You jealous, princess?"
Maya scoffed, closing her laptop a little too aggressively. "Please."
Raveen took a slow drag, exhaling through her nose as she studied Maya. She was avoiding her gaze again, but Raveen wasn’t about to let her escape this time.
"Hey, come sit here," Raveen said, patting the spot next to her on the bed.
Maya hesitated but eventually gave in, shifting over with a cautious distance between them.
Raveen frowned. "Why are you acting like we just met? You weren’t this shy when you were—"
"Shut up," Maya interrupted quickly, her face heating up.
Raveen chuckled lowly, watching her with amusement. She reached over, tucking a few stray braids behind Maya’s ear. "I know you feel it too," she whispered, voice dropping lower. "I see how bad I make you want me."
Maya’s breath hitched, and just like that, she shot up from the bed and started rambling about the report.
Raveen just sat there, arms crossed, watching her lips move but not hearing a word she was saying.
Damn. She’s really trying to run from this.
They worked in silence for the next hour, Maya pretending to be engrossed in the project while Raveen kept sneaking glances at her. Every time Maya avoided looking at her, it only made Raveen want to push more.
After a while, Maya got up and disappeared into the bathroom. Raveen sat there for a moment before standing up and leaning against the door.
"Okay, time to get out," she heard Maya mumble to herself.
Raveen raised an eyebrow. Who’s she talking to?
The toilet flushed, water ran, and then Maya slowly unlocked the door.
When she stepped out and saw Raveen standing right there, her body stiffened.
"Aren't you supposed to be working on the title?" Maya asked, pushing past her.
Raveen didn’t move. "Why you always pushing me, Tiny? You scared of me or something?"
Maya turned around, giving her an unimpressed look. "No. I just don’t like when people stand in my way on purpose."
Raveen grinned. "Ohhh, so I’m people now?"
"Raveen, move."
Raveen stayed put, crossing her arms. "I see you got your hair in a ponytail," she mused. "We about to fuck or what?"
Maya scoffed, shaking her head. "You have issues, and I'm not about to be part of them."
She turned to grab a lighter from her top shelf, and Raveen watched her closely.
"There’s a party tonight," Raveen said casually.
"Good for you," Maya muttered, sparking her joint.
Raveen exhaled sharply. "You wanna come with?"
Maya leaned against her desk, blowing smoke in Raveen’s face before answering. "I can’t. I have plans."
Raveen’s jaw tightened. "With who?"
Maya shrugged, exhaling again. "Kate. Girls' night."
Something about that answer irritated Raveen more than it should have. She watched as Maya moved around the room, acting like she wasn’t doing anything but also like she was trying to keep busy.
Raveen pulled out her phone.
👾 Jake
Are you turning up tonight for Daniel’s party?🐮 Raveen
Not sure. I’m at Maya’s place. Will see.She hit send, glancing up at Maya, who had now disappeared into the bathroom again.
This girl was impossible.
Raveen sighed, leaning against the doorframe.
Maya was acting weird. And if Raveen had to guess…
She knew exactly why.
