"Rinnnnng!" I hear the lunch bell go off.

"Finally!" I say to Percy after an exhausting math lesson.

"That could not have gone any slower," he says while yawning.

We head off to lunch and meet up with our other friends, Blake and Theo.

"Hey, guys, wanna come over after school today?" Percy asks.

"Sure, why?" Blake asks.

"I want you to meet my girlfriend."

"Not again, Percy! You can't seriously be keeping up this girlfriend act," I laugh.

"Bro, I'm not lying. Come over and see for yourself."

"I think you just want an excuse for me to come over," I say, winking.

He winks back, laughing. "But in all seriousness, I want you to meet her."

"Fine, dude, but if the same thing that happened every other time happens again, I will never trust you."

"It's not my fault that every time you're supposed to meet her, you just happen to be late or she's busy."

"Excuses, excuses," Theo says. "Dude, you can't really expect us to believe you—you describe her like she's a goddess."

"You don't know the half of it," he says, a love-struck look in his eyes.

I put my hand on my heart. "I can't believe you're cheating on me, Percy."

"Bro, I'm so sorry," he says, grinning.

After school, we head straight to his house.

"Hey, Mom, I'm home," he calls out.

"Your mom's not here, Perce," I hear a voice coming from down the hallway.

"Oooooo, is that your girlfriend?" I tease.

He blushes a deep red. "Yeah."

"Seaweed brain, are your friends here?"

"Yep," he says, popping the 'p.'

A tall girl pops her head out of Percy's room. She's stunning. She has pretty blonde curls that reach her waist and a beautiful tan, like a classic California girl. The only thing that tells me she's not your average "dumb blonde" is her sharp grey eyes that seem to analyze Blake, Theo, and me. She's wearing Percy's blue swim hoodie.

"That's your girlfriend?" Blake asks, wide-eyed.

"I know, right?" Percy replies.

"My name's Annabeth," she says, holding out her hand to shake.

"Oh, trust me, we know," Theo says.

She raises an eyebrow at Percy, who turns red as a strawberry, then heads back into his room.

"Why is she in your room?" I ask.

"'Cause she's staying there, duh."

"She sleeps with you?!"

"Well, yeah, but not like that."

We walk into Percy's room and see Annabeth lying on his bed, using a laptop with a weird triangle symbol.

"Percy, I need to work—my mom's expecting new designs for our new house soon."

"We won't disturb you, I promise," he says.

"I highly doubt that."

"Pleaseee?" he pleads.

"Fine," she sighs.
