Movie Night

Percy's POV

The sun dipped below the horizon, painting Camp Half-Blood in shades of orange and purple as I set up the cabin for our movie marathon. I could already smell the buttery popcorn popping in the microwave, filling the air with a delicious scent that made my stomach growl. This was going to be epic.

Annabeth and I had decided to host the movie night, and I could feel the excitement buzzing between us. I loved these moments, when we could relax and forget about the chaos of being demigods for a while. Just good friends, snacks, and movies—what could be better?

"Are you sure we have enough snacks?" Annabeth's voice pulled me from my thoughts. She stood by the snack table, her brow furrowed in that adorable way she did when she was worried.

"Definitely!" I assured her, plopping down onto the couch and grabbing a handful of popcorn. "I mean, we have enough snacks to last through a zombie apocalypse. Or at least a movie marathon."

She rolled her eyes at me, but I could see the smile hiding beneath her mock annoyance. "Just remember: it's a marathon, not a sprint. We need to pace ourselves!"

I shrugged, feigning seriousness. "I can't make any promises. When popcorn is involved, all bets are off."

Just as Annabeth was about to respond, the door swung open, and our friends filed in. Grover was carrying a massive bag of chips, Leo had a cooler filled with soda, and Piper and Jason entered with a large pizza, both struggling to balance it.

"Did you order extra toppings?" I asked, my eyes wide at the sight of the pizza.

"Of course! How can we have a proper movie night without pepperoni?" Piper grinned, plopping the pizza down on the table with a flourish.

"Alright, we're ready to roll!" Leo said, pulling out a stack of DVDs. "I brought the classics. We're starting with 'The Princess Bride.' You guys are going to love it."

As everyone settled onto the couch, I took my place next to Annabeth, our legs brushing against each other. I could feel a warmth spread through me at the closeness. The movie started, and soon we were lost in the story, laughing at the antics on screen.

About halfway through, the movie hit a particularly romantic scene, and I turned to Annabeth, a playful grin on my face. "Can you believe this guy? He's about to fight for his true love. How cheesy is that?"

She elbowed me, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "What's wrong with a little romance, Seaweed Brain? It's sweet! Besides, if you were in his shoes, you'd be fighting a giant too."

"True," I admitted, leaning back and trying to look serious. "But I'd probably forget the sword and just start throwing snacks at the bad guy."

"Oh, yes, that'll definitely win her heart!" Annabeth laughed, shaking her head. Her laughter was infectious, and I couldn't help but smile back at her.

As the movie continued, I caught Grover sitting at the edge of the couch, wide-eyed and animated. "You know, if I had a sword, I'd totally take on that giant."

"Yeah, right!" Leo tossed a piece of popcorn at him, laughing. "You'd be too busy trying to save the rodents!"

The banter continued, and I felt a warmth spreading through the room, not just from the snacks or the funny moments in the film but from the energy of our friendship. I glanced at Annabeth, who was chuckling at the chaos around her. She looked so beautiful in that moment, her hair framing her face perfectly, her eyes sparkling with amusement. It was moments like this that made me realize just how much she meant to me.

As the movie reached another romantic scene, I noticed Annabeth's expression shift slightly. It was that look she had when she was deep in thought, and I couldn't resist teasing her a little more. "What do you think? If I had to fight a giant for you, would you wait for me?"
