Amber
I cuddled with a pillow, enjoying my sleep, except the pillow stroked my leg. I opened one eye to see Grayson looking at me. I lifted my head and noticed my body wrapped around his. I raised my eyes to Grayson's face. "So much for your makeshift barrier."
"You move a lot in your sleep."
"You could have pushed me off."
Grayson's lips twitched. "I didn't mind." He ran his fingers through my hair and kissed my forehead.
"What are we doing today?"
Before Grayson could answer, lightning flashed outside as thunder cracked. We sat up and saw rain pelting the windowpanes.
"I guess we're staying inside," Grayson said.
"Fine by me. I don't mind lying in bed all day." I lay down and snuggled a pillow.
Grayson's phone rang. He climbed out of bed and padded downstairs to answer it. "What the hell do you think I'm wearing? I'm wearing clothes."
I sat up in bed, wrapped my arms around my knees, and smiled when I heard Mary's voice.
"Hold your horses. I need to go up to the loft." Grayson climbed the steps, walked toward me, and handed me his phone.
I took his phone as he crawled into bed and pulled the covers over him. I saw Mary, Morgan, and Patsy on video chat and smiled.
"It's about damn time we got to talk to our fellow musketeer. Grayson is keeping you hidden from us,"
Mary said."Nope. Gray has been helping me," I said.
"Gray?" They asked.
"Yep, Gray. And I got a bone to pick with you two. Why didn't you tell me Grayson was in love with me?" I asked Mary and Morgan.
"The same reason no one told us Hank and Beau were in love with us," Morgan said.
"We're oblivious, aren't we?" I asked.
"Yep," Morgan and Mary said.
"How are you doing, Amber?" Patsy asked.
"I'm getting a little better each day. How are things going on with you all?"
"They're a work in progress," Mary said.
"Did you and Patsy forgive Beau and Waylon?"
"Yeah, we did," Mary said as Patsy nodded in agreement.
"I'm glad. You're lucky. You have someone who made a mistake. But it's nothing that can't be fixed."
Grayson slipped out of bed and left the loft.
"Amber, we're glad you found Grayson. He's a good man and will protect you," Mary said.
I smiled. "I'm seeing that with Grayson."
I told the girls everything that happened since we arrived. They were happy I had Grayson to help me through my healing process. We talked a little more before ending the call.
Grayson climbed the steps, holding two cups of coffee. He handed me one. I took it. Then he climbed into bed with me. We sat in bed and drank our coffee.
"Did you enjoy your visit with the girls?" Grayson asked.
"I needed that visit."
"I asked everyone to give you some time to readjust. I didn't want them to overwhelm you."
"I appreciate that. When I saw everyone, the night I bolted had overwhelmed me. I went from no communication to people bombarding me."
"It'll take time, Wild Filly."
