seungmin's pov
i glanced around at all the new faces in the lecture hall. many of them seemed to have found their own friend groups; their high pitched chatter ear splitting. yet, it didn't bother me. i just snapped on my own headphones, canceling out all the noise around me. i didn't really care for school or lectures and i sure as hell didn't want to listen to their voices for the next few hours.the two hours of lectures and an hour of study hall passed by rather slowly, and my mind drifted to the thought of jeongin.
kinda wondering what classes the fella’s taking now…
as i pondered about jeongin, something else about him jogged my memory. it was a memory from last year, one month from the first day of school. i was looking for a vacant dormitory on campus to share with a fellow student, and it was a fairly urgent matter. i live six hours away from this very university, and i could either look for an alternative accommodation or literally never sleep in my entire life, ever again.
the administration office was where i met jeongin for the first time, hands tucked in his pockets, back hunched over the dormitory waitlist, hair that striked me as odd.
why the hell is his hair so strikingly white?
that was the very first thought that i had formed about jeongin, but decided against judging based on first impressions. i had surprised the dude by suddenly appearing beside him, and how could i ever forget that comedic-sounding yelp?
one glance at the rather long waitlist was the last straw for me, and before i could have thought otherwise, i had offered jeongin money for the rest of his life if he took up a dormitory with me. jeongin had looked at me like i was mad, and maybe i was. he was sceptical at first, but i had persuaded him with my nonsensical ramblings about the benefits he would reap if he took up my monetary offer of companionship, clean shared spaces, and a personal chef.
he had finally relented with a laugh he could no longer hold back, and i remembered that exuberant feeling of triumph — i had successfully gained an accommodation on campus and waved goodbye to 6 hours of driving forever.
finally, the bell rang and i eagerly tossed my textbooks into my locker, making my way to the cafeteria. i looked around for jeongin in the sea of people, and saw that he was talking to a blonde boy; he had pale skin, brown eyes and wavy blonde hair. i queued for my favourite korean bento with chawanmushi, a mix of cuisines.
i slid into the seat next to jeongin, 'hi jeongin! i see you made a new friend.'
jeongin smiled, his dimples showing. 'yah, this is lee felix, he has almost the same timetable as me! we both study the same courses. felix, this is kim seungmin, my roommate.'
felix smiled and waved at me, 'nice to meet you, seungmin.' i waved back, glad that jeongin at least had a close companion in his classes. felix had a rather pleasant accent as he spoke, and i realised with surprise, the boy had freckles that dotted the skin across his face.
jeongin turned to me and asked, 'what about you? did you make any new friends?'
i shook my head, 'i never had any friends in school and i don't plan on making any this year.'
jeongin frowned, 'but you have me, don't you?'
i laughed, 'of course i do, you're the only one i prefer being around and worth tolerating.'
jeongin bit his lip, seemingly shy after hearing what i said. he turned back to his food, munching away while felix continued talking to him.
did i say something wrong?
