A/N: Told from the P.O.V. of Rowena Ravenclaw=

"Salazar!" Godric shouted. Godric Gryfffindor and Salazar Slytherin were inseparable. They were BFF's, connected at the hip, whatever cliche you want to call it. The Snake was back from his backpacking trip on Europe in search of new magic to help build Hogwarts faster. But with Godric being the only strong one of the trio that was left behind, not much building was done. He supposedly brought all of us souvenirs. For Helga, he gave her a beautiful golden chalice engraved with a badger( her favorite animal and her patronus) from Italy. For Godric, a ruby encrusted, glistening silver sword with a lion wrapped around the Ruby on the hilt from Norway. For me, a sapphire embedded diadem with a raven holding it's central sapphire jewel from France. Salazar had also picked up a souvenir, a silver locket embedded with a beautiful emerald and the Slytherin crest from Cairo, his family's origin home. He brought many things for the school too like, a hand woven tapestry from Ireland, with all our family crests and family colors, a collection of dried herbs and spices for all our potion making needs, a bunch of marble statutes from Greece and Rome, and others to make the school a more warm and friendly place for our students. But the thing that stuck out the most of this collection, was an antique gold lamp with every birthstone embedded in it and some sort of hieroglyphs engraved on the side. Salazar supposedly picked it up from a wondering antique cart he found on his way through the Alps. The man was from Asia and said there was a sort of magic behind it but, he was a muggle so what did he know. Being VERY un-Slytherin like, he gave this man some money so he could afford food or clothes, and he was given the lamp. "I guess it's supposed to be some sort of good luck charm," replied Salazar when I asked him about the lamp "Even though, I don't need luck. I'm already so amazing and talented!" I don't know if I mentioned it but Salazar can be a bit arrogant, at times. It was just so peculiar. "Come on guys! Let's decorate our new home!" Shouted Godric while zooming around on his broom. "Okay, okay then I'll be there in a second." I replied. I was worried. Salazar looked somewhat more mature than the rest of us, I could even see little tiny gray hairs growing within his luscious blonde locks. And he was wearing a ring of gold with a cut of obsidian in the middle. He didn't laugh as much, he didn't talk much, and no matter how many times Godric had tried, he could not get Salazar to sing like he used to. "Who cares for such childish delights as singing when there is work to be done?" He sounded like my father.*sigh* "Come on Salazar one verse? One song? One word? Please?!?!?" Godric would whine. He missed Salazar's melodic voice as he sang songs of the Nile and other distant places in other countries that he had always wanted to visit. After Me and Helga's beautifully prepared dinner- roasted lamb chops over a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes and and other vegetables from the garden near our soon to be gamekeeper's home- we sat around the fire examining the objects that Salazar had brought back from Europe. Salazar finally spoke up for the first time since he had got back. "This ring, that I'm wearing is also from Europe, just thought you wanted to know. There is quite a history behind it. Would you like to hear it?" Godric raised one eyebrow and smiled "Salazar is back... somewhat!" Helga then replied to Salazar's question. "Of course! Salazar, whenever you are ready." Salazar then began his story "A long time ago in Egypt, there was a beautiful queen, who was also a witch but no one ever knew. One day she met a god, a true god, Osiris and they fell in love. This queen was named Iris, because she was as lively as the all the colors in the rainbow. Iris and Osiris taught each other the tricks and feats of magic from their own worlds. The priest became suspicious and so sent evil dark forces after the two for the priest was none other than Seth, god of pure chaos. The priest was however, unaware of Seth possessing his body, neither were Iris or Osiris. The black magic was able to effect mortal beings so the queen became poisoned. She later died and the doctors were unaware of the cause of death. Osiris, not knowing about Seth had thought that a mere mortal had done this. At Iris's burial she wore a ring that Osiris had crafted for her. Because he thought humans could no longer be trusted, he fashioned a golden clad, gem encrusted lamp which during the funeral was filled with the soul of Seth as punishment, but accidentally not knowingly split Seth's soul in two. One half was put into the lamp and the other, was supposedly put into the ring. These objects have been passed on through mortals, cursing them until they die, in which then they are passed on." We sit there, mouths open wide, pondering why Salazar had ever wanted that ring. Everybody knows that, with a horrible backstory, comes with horrible consequences. "Well, this has been a long tiring night," Godric finally said. "Goodnight everyone! Come on Salazar, we need to get some sleep. We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow." Salazar and Godric crept into their tent and then I turned to Helga "The boys are right. We need to get some sleep." I mutter yawning while doing so. Helga and I prepare for bed, extinguish all the lamps, and we settle in for bed. But the gears in my brain keep turning, metaphorically, I might add. I then jolt up. I hear loud distinct male voices coming from outside the tent. I quietly creep out of the tent, to investigate. It- the loud shouting- is coming from the boys tent. The boys are arguing "Why Salazar? Why do YOU of all the founders get a secret chamber? Why? Do you think your SO much more important than the rest of us who ACTUALLY worked while you having fun in Europe? Huh?" I then hear Salazar "Calm down Godric it's just that I..." "No I. Will. Not. Calm. Down! Ever since you've got back all you've done is treat me, your "best" friend like dirt. And what about that girl you like huh? What about Rowena? I think she liked you better when you were actually NICE. Now get out of my tent or so help me I will..." Godric continued to shout but I didn't hear a thing. I was to worried that Salazar was gonna do something terrible to Godric. Salazar stormed out of the tent, tears streaming down his face. He than sat down by the fire and wept until, I came out of the shadows to comfort him. "Salazar..." I began. He looked up, kind of hopeful that it was me and no one else. "You heard everything didn't you?" He said in a depressed voice. "Well sort of," I replied "Sorry, but don't worry I stopped listening while Godric was threatening you. I was to worried about you." "You, the smartest, prettiest, of all of us, was worried about me, a Slytherin?" I looked down. "Well yeah, I always have." I replied. "Hey Rowena, because you are now the only person I can trust, can I tell you a secret?" He asked me. I was a little shocked but, I was kind of glad. "Sure, I guess." I replied. "Okay, close your eyes." "What? Why? Salazar..." I began but I was silenced. "Just do it, please, do it for me." "Okay." I close my eyes and wait for a moment. Nothing happens. But in an instant, Salazar's lips are on mine. The kiss is slow, soft, sweet, and everything I ever wanted out of my first kiss. We stand there, kissing by the light of the fire, lost in our own little paradise. I feel my cheeks blush a fierce tomato red. "Salazar..." I begin, but he stops me "The truth is I really like you, a lot." "Yeah, I kind of figured because of that... kiss." I replied. "Well you better get some sleep. Goodnight Rowena." "Wait," I say "Do you need a blanket, or a pillow or something?" Salazar replies "Sure, I'd like that a lot, thanks." I bring him one of my favorite peacock feather-stuffed pillows and a silk blanket. "Goodnight Salazar," I then mutter under my breath "I love you."
