Chapter 4 | The Price Of Gold
____________________"Please, tell me your joking" Millie huffed, giving Graham a pointed look in question. After just being informed that Graham offered Emma a job as a deputy.
Millie kept her eyes stained to the ceiling for a short moment before adjusting herself up on his bed. Observing the Sheriff's attempt to tie his tie in the circular mirror. "It's just a job, Mils and she hasn't even accepted" he sighed on, not pealing his eyes from the mirror. "Plus you called her smart, remember?"
"Yeah, just because she done one thing right doesn't make her deputy worthy — okay I need to stop you right there" Millie released a loud puff, standing up from the bed. Strolling towards the Sheriff before taking ahold either side of his tugging him towards her. Their gaze locked for only moments before Mille placed her focus on adjusting his tie. "I'll help."
Graham inhaled a sharp breath, "thanks. I watched videos on it but didn't make sense" he chuckled nervously, then heard the sound of her sweet laughter at how idiotic he sounded before he attempt to rephrase his words. "I mean I do know how to tie one—"
"I'm sure you do, though I am wondering how you do this on your uniform" Millie laughed, pushing the tie up towards his collar as she folded the collar down where it meets the shirt. "All done, you look good in black tie" Millie smiled patting him on the chest.
"I use a clip on tie" he admitted, having a broad half hearted smile across his lips. As they both held a glint amusement and playfulness in their gaze.
"Makes sense" Millie straightened the tie, "why don't you invite me to these council meetings?" Millie sighed in question, pressing her hand on his shoulder, turning him to face the mirror again to make sure he approves on the tie length.
Graham gave an alarmed look at the though of the council. It was really Regina and Graham sleeping together, he glanced to Millie seeing she had a teasing smile as she went on her tip toes so that her chin can be rested on top of his shoulder from behind him. Guilt ran through Graham'e veins, lying wasn't a thing the Sheriff was particularly good at nor proud of.
Graham and Millie had an unspoken connection, the pair could always have an understanding of each other. It was a friendship where both could trust and talk to each other whatever was bothering them but it was far from platonic between them. But neither of them would admit the truth. They shield it from each other.
It had pained Graham deep inside of him because friendships are built up on trust and with no trust, the happy moments disappear. Their bond they share would resolve into nothingness.
