" Okay. Is this it? " Mother asks as we both set down a box full of things I may or may not need throughout the school year.
" I'd say so. Thank you for helping me move in. " I say looking around. There were boxes on my bed, desk, floor, in the closet, just everywhere.
" Do you need help unpacking? " She asks. Now don't get me wrong, I love my Mother more than anyone. It's just I kind of wanted to be alone to unpack. You never know what will come out of these boxes.
I simply reply with " No, I think I've got it. Thank you. "
" Alright. Well call me before you go to bed. No lousy spending. Only food, supplies, just stuff that you need. Please try to go to every class, and most of all please call me every week. If you don't, I'll go crazy. I love you, son. " she lectures. I knew she could go on and on and on but she spared me.
" I love you too. I promise. Every week. No lousy spending. Go to every class. I understand perfectly. " I say giving her a reassuring smile. Then, I saw it. The face that pretty much means " I'm about to say something really awkward... Be prepared. " So I made the " No... Don't do it face. " then it happened.
" There's a box of condoms in one of the bathroom boxes. " she blurts out.
" MOTHER! " I yell. I grip her shoulders, turn her body around, and slightly force her body out of the door into the hallway of the dorm.
" Walk me to the car will you, Hun? " she says grabbing my hand and interlocking her fingers with mine. I walked down the hallway. The walk seemed like an eternity but we finally made it to the blue minivan. She glides in and starts the car. With one last kiss and hug through the window, my Mother was gone. I was somewhat relieved. The walk back to the dorm gave me a weird feeling. I don't know why. I reached the room, unlocked the door, and there it was. The feeling. Toilet paper everywhere. Now I specifically remember leaving the door open so someone obviously came in and did this. I turn around in hopes the the person who did this would be somewhere in the hall. There was no one to be seen except a guy waving at his parents as they walk down the long hallway.
The toilet paper surprise gave me no motivation to unpack, so I went downstairs and decided to go to the Student Community Center to grab myself a nice cup of tea and try to find some friends.••• Hello!
