Ellis' POV

I can't even imagine a life without him. How can I live it?

At the hospital, Zach is still unconscious. Doctors inform me that he has a heart failure. I'm worried for Zach. I can't believe it's real. I ask the doctor about heart failure and its treatment.

"Heart failure occurs when the heart muscle doesn't pump blood as well as it should. Blood often backs up, and fluid can build up in the lungs, causing shortness of breath. Certain heart conditions leave the heart too weak or stiff to pump blood properly, such as narrowed arteries and high blood pressure," the doctors inform me.

"Proper treatment may improve symptoms and help some people live longer. Lifestyle changes like weight loss, exercise, reduced salt intake, and stress management can improve quality of life. However, heart failure can be life-threatening, and severe cases may require a heart transplant or a device to help pump blood," the doctor adds.

"What!? How can he have a disease like that?" I ask tearfully.

"Some causes of heart failure include the heart not supplying enough blood to meet the body's needs. Symptoms may develop slowly or start suddenly, including shortness of breath, fatigue, weakness, swelling in the legs, ankles, and feet, and rapid or irregular heartbeat," the doctor explains and leaves.

"Love. I can't believe it's happening. Zach, do you hear me?" I ask in tears.

"I love you. Keep your heart beating. We're gonna have a life together, right?" I ask him, noticing a bit of tears in his eyes.

"You heard me!?" I softly say while staring at his face and wiping his tears.

I call Kenzo to inform him of what just happened to Zach.

"Hey! Ellis. OMG Zach!" Kenzo exclaims.

I hug Kenzo right away. I feel not okay, but I will be strong for Zach.

"What just happened, Ellis?" Kenzo asks.

"Kenzo, I can't live a life without him. The doctors said he has a heart failure and will undergo treatment, but if his heart doesn't improve, he's going to need a heart transplant," I inform him.

"What!? OMG. I know Zach will improve his heart. A heart transplant is not that easy. It needs a donor, and it's rare," Kenzo says.

"I know, but can we try to find one? After a week and no sign of improvement in his heart, he's going to need a heart transplant," I say.

"I love him! I don't want to see him like this. It's hurting me too," I utter in tears.

"For now, we're gonna observe him, and I hope his heart improves," Kenzo states.

I look at Zach, remembering those memories.

Kenzo's POV

Ellis is someone I've known since we were kids. When we were younger, around 9 and 8 years old, we always played a game called "catch the ball or you will fall" in his grandmother's backyard.

We promised ourselves that our friendship wouldn't last and not be forgotten. Ellis is truly my first friend. Our childhood was filled with laughs and memorable experiences. Time passed, and everything changed as I had to go to our province with my family. Ellis and I were separated for almost 12 years, and now I'm back to study at San Francisco University, seeing him with his boyfriend Zach.

"Hey! Ellis. Long time no see. I miss you so much," I say to Ellis and give him a hug.
