Saul, as what he calls himself, is not that quite impressed with Cydril. And aside from that, it's freaking raining! How else is he supposed to appreciate Cydril?
Ulric told me how deserts rarely get rain. And when it does, it would be hell below. Look at the streets flooded.
Seryoso ba toh? Ugh.
The situation outside the city was much worse though. Outside the gates there aren't any cannals. It's a really bad decision to underestimate the desert the moment it rains. You don't just die from the heat here, you die from a flash flood.
"It's a blessing to have rain, you know," Lisandrei pointed out. Her eyes wandering up, observing droplets of water seeping in the wood.
"Thank the Gods." She smirked.
I sighed.
Nasa lower deck kami ngayon.
"We'll leave the kids to you," says Lisandrei to the Navigator. Nasa likuran namin siya. We were both dressed in our usual outfit, not wasting any time to rest or at least take a bath.
Really.
"Not a kid!" shouted Mason inside the one and only bathroom/comfort room at the end of this lower deck. And before you ask, he jumped in the bathroom the moment we docked at Puerto Cydrill III. Kating-kating maligo.
Yung dalawang lalake naman, Jinsei and Ulric, they were both ordered by the Captain earlier to open some barrels and jugs to fill up the water reserve of the ship. Kaya't nasa itaas pa sila ngayon. We're still poor, you know. Water is water. Free water is good.
"Hmm," Navigator nodded to us in affirmation as he lit up his cigar. Deus, I hope he does not start a fire here or something. I saw some Altherians back in Tasosir, their hair lit up on fire sometimes.
"What's that look for?" tapon niyang tanong sa akin. Lisandrei went back inside her office/room to get something.
"Don't start a fire," I say. I felt a tap on my back and it was Lisandrei signalling me to go now. Nauna na itong lumabas.
I followed suit.
"I'm not like those idiots back in Tasosir. I can control my flames very well."
I glanced back one more time.
"Whatever," inaayos ko yung boots ko, "just don't start a fire or something."
He glared at me. Narinig niya pala yun.
The rain was getting heavier.
"We need a boat," Lisandrei gave the boat renter a coin.
