December 11th, 2023, Jade was at home, waiting for her friends to arrive so they could celebrate her 22 birthday. She'd always been fascinated with mythical lost cities, her newest interest being El Dorado, The City Of Lost Gold. She'd grown quite popular among a small audience after she wrote a book in collage titled "Lost Worlds, Fallen Treasures". Though her major was in criminal justice, her dream was to become a writer, and explorer, discovering, documenting, and writing books on ancient lost cities.

But apart from that one book, she'd been struggling to publish anything else. Shed planned on spending her whole Christmas break working on her new book "Forgotten Journals", but she spent the past month struggling with writer's block.

The silence was broken when one of her friends swung open

"What's up bitches" someone yelled.

Jade looked up to see Zada walking in and running to hug her best friend. Behind her followed Zack and a Girl Jade had met only a month before

Zada was 21, and a lifelong friend of Jade's, they grew up together and were as close as sisters.

Zack was 23 and a good friend of Zada's, though Jade and them didn't always get along, they'd recently fixed things and became closer.

The Girl was relatively new to the group, she tended to take care of and stay to herself, but she and Jade became close after Nada helped her in a fight when four people tried to rob her in the alley four streets from her home. Jade was a great fighter but if it hadn't been for Nadia, she'd probably be the one that ended up instead of the four robbers and the girl.

November 12th, just one month before, Jade had been walking home from class, her car was in the shop and no one else could give her a ride, it was only about a 10-minute walk from her college so she didn't mind. As she walked home she realized the alleyway would cut her walk time in half but about halfway down, four masked men cornered her with knives.

"hey, Gorgeous," the tallest said mockingly.

"You look lost". The second tallest one spoke with a raspy voice.

"Why don't you show us what's in that bag" the 3rd one spoke with pride and ego.

"Yea, what's a pretty girl like you Cary arou.." before the first one could finish Jade thrust her leg up, landing her foot on the bottom of his jaw, throwing him to the ground.

"So you wanna play like that, ay?" The first man said, pulling out a long bowie knife. The other two pulled out butterfly knives and the three approached Jade slowly.

Jade began to panic, being slowly backed against a wall.

"SMACK"
Just then the man closest to her left fell to the ground, behind him stood a girl, no taller than 5'7, with brown hair, hazel eyes, and tan skin. She was holding what remained of the brick shed just broken over the guy's head.

The other man holding a butterfly knife ran towards the girl, wildly swinging his blade in her direction. The girl thought fast, in one singular movement she tossed Jade the broken brick, dodged the man's blade, grabbed the knife the man she hit with a brick had dropped, and plunged it into the lower thigh of the man running at her. The man fell to the ground screaming in pain.

The tallest one was walking towards the girl, almost like they'd completely forgotten about Jade.

"So who are you"? The man asked

The girl said nothing in response.

"We could use someone of your skill" the man joked.

Without saying anything the girl plunged the knife into the man's shoulder. The man screamed in pain and then tried to stab his knife into the girl's stomach, but she dodged and still got a nasty cut on her arm. She was hospitalized for only a day, while the 3 men the girl had dealt with would be in for multiple weeks before going to prison. That girl's name was Nadia.
