Two days till Zack dies
"Iris, this way!" Jade yelled, running from the gunfire.
They ran into a nearby building, about 6 blocks from the border.
"It's hell out here, but we only have to make it 6 more blocks okay?" Jade reassured
"Okay, let's go" Iris yelled
"Okay on 3 we run, got it"?" Jade asked
"Got it" Iris replied
1... 2...
"3!" Jade yelled, swinging open the door and making a run for it.
They ran as fast as their legs would let them, 5 blocks, 4 blocks. Every step brings them closer to freedom, 3 blocks 2 blocks. Then Jade saw it, the cars at the border had E.D.Corp on the side.
"STOP" Jade yelled
Iris didn't hear her and kept running
"BANG"
Jade watched as Iris fell to the ground, blood pooling out from under her.
"No..." Jade mumbled, picking up Iris and careening her inside a nearby alley
"Iris?" Jade whispered.
"Iris say something?" Jade pleaded.
"Jade?" Iris spoke weakly.
Iris's breath was jumpy, her voice faint, her eyes having trouble staying open, and blood oozing out of her side.
"Iris, it's going to be okay" Jade tried to reassure Iris.
"Go... Jade...go." Iris's breaths were faint.
"I can't leave you" Jade assured,
"My family's been dead for years... you gave me a taste of freedom... Thank you" Iris continued, Iris fell silent, her breath stopped, her eyes closed.
Jade exited the alley and walked toward the border
"SCARLET!" Jade called out, arms stretched out wide.
"IM HERE" Jade continued to yell.
Scarlet turned the corner, gun holstered.
The girls continued walking toward each other.
"Jade, Long time no see, Where is Iris" Scarlet yelled
"You killed her, just now!" Jade yelled
Scarlet was quite
"You killed her!" Jade screamed unholstering her pistol and aiming it at Scarlet.
"Shot her in cold blood" Jade continued.
"Say something" Jade yelled
The girls stood 18 feet from each other, Jade ready to shoot down Scarlet.
"The girl had no family, at least now she can see them" Scarlet replied
"You killed her parents, Scarlet, took away her childhood, then killed her after she finally had a taste of freedom." Jade yelled
"And now she is fee Jade!" Scarlet yelled "But what's your plan here? I have Snipers, armed guards, and just overall more manpower and firepower. I started a goddamn revolution with the snap of my fingers.
"What can you do?" Scarlet Mocked
"I can kill you, right now" Jade responded
"Let's say you pull that trigger, Jade, then what? I die then you get shot and killed, then who saves Zack and Zada?" Scarlet reasoned
Jade was silent, she had no plan, Iris was dead, and for all, she knew Zack and Zada might already think she was dead.
"You have no plan" Scarlet yelled "Even if you make it back to the States, I'll find you, and if you kill me and somehow escape then he'll find you"
"Who will?" Jade yelled
"My boss, you may have heard of him, the Red Death." Scarlet laughed
"The Red Death?" Jade thought. She had read about him on the dark web, The Red Death was a myth, just someone who was rumored to control intercontinental problems, someone who could spike Revolutions with the snap of a finger.
"How about this Jade, you get 5 hours to run, hide, escape, and I'll come search for you alone, and we can finish this." Scarlet offered
Do I even have a choice? Jade thought, If I don't accept, I die.
"Deal" Jade yelled.
"Fun" Scarlet replied, unholstering her gun and firing a round into the sky.
"Run while you can Jade" Scarlet yelled.
Jade had a plan and intended to put it into action immediately.
