A small click sounded, the light from the end table lamp darkening. The only other remaining light source left was the overhead stove light in the kitchen, across from the living room. Vixen had insisted it be kept on, when the kids would be turning off all the lights in the living room—except for the Christmas tree lights. All of them had agreed to her simple term, though Jessie seemed slightly less sincere about it than the others did.
Junior walked away from the lamp, returning to his sleeping bag closest to the TV stand. "There, it's dark enough now." He said, while getting comfortable under the blankets. "Yup, it's just right." Plushy agreed with a small nod, even with his head resting atop his folded arms. The only one among them who wasn't laying down under her blankets yet, was Jessie. She was glaring over her shoulder to the warm light coming from the kitchen. She shook her head.
"It ain't dark enough," She noted. JJ looked up at her. "Vixen said to leave that light on, though." She reminded her. Jessie rolled her eyes a little. "We've got flashlights, we's don't need the kitchen light on." She argued, getting up from her sleeping bag. JJ exchanged glances with Junior, who shrugged in defeat. A moment later, the room became darker, with the light from the kitchen being turned out. Jessie returned a second later.
She hopped down onto her sleeping bag, finally snuggling into the blankets. "Aye, that's better!" She said, settling down to both be laying on her stomach comfortably, while still being able to look at the Christmas lights. "Okay, okay, you're right." Junior admitted. "But, it was your idea to turn the light off if mama asks."
"Aye aye."
The five of them fell quiet for a moment, mostly being tired and wanting to sleep. Yet, they all were admiring the coloured lights and decorations of the tree. As was Jessie's intention to her little nightly tradition. Plushy narrowed his eyes for a second, having an idea. He turned from laying on his stomach, and onto his back. "Guys, try laying on your back instead. You don't have to keep looking up if you do!" He got a few curious looks from that.
The twins all did as he suggested, all being pleasantly surprised by his idea. "Aw yeah, that's better...!" BB commented. Everyone seemed to be much more comfortable now, no longer needing to crane their necks while looking at the tree. "Told you...!" Plushy hummed, just before yawning. Accidentally starting a chain of yawns in the process.
Pulling up his blankets further over himself, Junior then said, "Imma... close my eyes a little bit." Jessie and JJ glanced over at him. He seemed to have fallen asleep right then. "... Yeah." BB quietly agreed, falling asleep next. JJ, too, pulled her own blanket up closer. "Okay... goodnight, guys." She said to them. Then, she closed her eyes and relaxed, falling asleep. Jessie looked over in Plushy's direction. He'd also fallen asleep.
Quietly sighing, Jessie smirked a little. Unlike the others, she stayed awake a little while longer. It felt like hours to her, laying under the tree and simply staring at it. Though, in reality, it was mere minutes before she'd also fall asleep.

Small pieces of disregarded wrapping paper had slowly been accumulating during the afternoon over the rug on the living room floor. All thanks to how the family went about wrapping gifts with care. And while Puppet did his best in making sure each square of wrapping paper was measured out closely to the gift it was meant to wrap, there still wound up being excess pieces that were cut off and left on the floor. It was fine, of course.
"Another piece falled, Daddy!" Puppet looked towards Rosette. She was holding another piece of excess wrapping paper. "Oops," Promptly pausing from putting a bow on the gift she'd just finished wrapping, Rosette went and put it on the little accumulated pile of paper for the trash. "There!" Puppet smiled. "Thank you." He said to her, continuing to measure out a new square of wrapping paper for a pair of purple and blue fuzzy socks—a gift picked out for Ballora, by Mina.
