Two more nights. Only two more nights until Christmas Day. And, it was also the last day of all the kids gathering for their nightly Christmas Sleepover tradition. As a way to mark the last sleepover, Vixen had opted to make something sweet for the kids as a snack before heading off to sleep.
Earlier in the day, she'd met up with Chica at the cafe to bake gingerbread cookies, just enough for each kid to have two. The cookies were cut out with typical, cartoon-esk person shaped cookie cutters. And, to make the cookies extra special, once they'd been baked and cooled, Vixen did her best to decorate the cookies to resemble the kid they'd be for. Chica had gladly complimented how they turned out, as she helped package them into little, individual cookie bags.
Once she got back from the cafe after her secret cookie making errand, Foxy was off to get what was needed for the second little surprise planned for the kids. JJ and Junior had noticed the knowing looks their parents shared, right before Foxy left for the shop. They said nothing, keeping their suspicions to themselves.
That evening found the twins, the Minireenas and Plushy all sitting around the kitchen table taking a moment to look at their decorated cookies. "Woah...! These are awesome!" Plushy said, while also looking around at his friends' cookies. "Yeah, they're really cool! Thanks, mama!" Junior said, giving his mom a big smile. Vixen's heart was warmed, seeing their reactions.
"Ooh, BB, cans I see yours?" Mina wondered, glancing over at BB's cookie. He nodded, sliding it over to her on it's napkin. "Here, you can look at mines!" Mina slid her own cookie to him, now looking at how his was decorated. Before Vixen knew it, the kids were all taking turns looking at each other's decorated cookies, seeming to really be in awe at their cute frosting job.
It was just the distraction Foxy needed, as he quietly went into the living room to leave set something else up. Vixen subtly watched him from the corner of her eye, while making sure the kids were distracted by their cookies. They were now passing the cookies around again, making sure everyone had theirs back before finally eating them.
"You kids can eat one of your cookies tonight," Vixen told them. "Save the second one for a nice little Christmas Eve treat, alright?" The kids nodded, while munching away at their cookies. Vixen saw Foxy leaving the living room, giving her a nod. She subtly returned his nod with a small thumbs up.
It wasn't long before the kids were finished their cookies, and putting their second ones back in the baggies they'd been packaged in. "You guys can leave your cookies on the table, it's fine." Vixen said to them.
Jessie then hopped off her chair, declaring, "First land lubber to the bathroom wins!" Hearing this challenge, everyone else got off their chairs. "Go!" Plushy suddenly said, dashing off—catching Jessie by surprise. "Ey-! Wait!" She darted after him, the rest of the twins following quickly. Junior lagged behind, to rush up the stairs behind the Minireenas in case one of them tripped. Vixen shook her head.
Leaving the kitchen, she went to stand next to Foxy by the living room threshold, leaning against the wall. "Can't wait t'a see their faces in a minute...!" Foxy commented, chuckling to himself. Vixen smirked. "That makes two of us, then." She hummed, leaning her head on his shoulder with a small yawn.
"Tired, lass?" She snickered. "After all that cookie decorating? Nope, not at all...!" Came her sarcastic and joking reply. The couple shared a small laugh together, as the kids returned downstairs.
BB, Plushy and Jessie were all stopped right at the threshold by Foxy holding an arm out. "Ah, ah! Ye've got's t'a wait fer th' others before ye can go in." The three gave him a puzzled look. "Uh... why?" BB asked, brow arched. Foxy gave him a mischievous look. "Ye'll see, won't ya, lad?"
