Part 1: Enlightened Truth
Under the light of the midday sun, a tall boy with dark fluffy hair and blue eyes that sparkled in the light leaned against the walls of the butterfly estate, where he and his comrades were enjoying a well-deserved break from missions. He was holding a book in front of his face, piles of notebooks at his side filled with scribbled notes about stars and planets. This was where he was most at peace.

There were certainly times where he worried that this tendency of his to retreat into the world of encyclopedias made him seem standoffish, but much to his surprise, he had found himself a group of friends who welcomed him regardless.

In fact, he even met someone who shared his passion.

"Seriously, Yūjin, do I have to keep coming out here to get you?" A sharp voice said from behind him, the source of which being his fellow demon slayer, Tsubaki Akiyama. Despite the sharp tone, though, she was smiling, a hand resting on her hip as her long red ponytail gently swung in the breeze.

Following shortly after her were two other girls. One of them had a bright smile and a bounce in her step, and her short black hair was adorned with a purple butterfly hairpiece signifying her as one of the insect hashira's adoptive sisters—Kumosu Dokuhime.

The other had a softer look in her violet eyes, and a cherry-red ribbon securing her brown-and-pink hair into a small side ponytail while the rest flowed freely at her shoulders. She also had a marking on her face that resembled a cherry blossom, with pink petals and green leaves. She was the rose hashira's niece: Sakura Kai Nohana.

"I tried to tell you that your lunch would get cold, but you weren't listening," Tsubaki continued. "Hoshizuki's already in there, too. Are you going to keep her waiting?"

"Ah, sorry! I must have lost track of the time," Yūjin explained, his free hand finding its way to the back of his neck before he even thought about it, and his heart skipping a beat at the mention of Hoshizuki. "I'll come in now, hopefully it hasn't gotten too cold!"

Kumosu grinned, a glint in her eye as she picked up a very distinctive scent from his direction. "I'm sure it'll be fine! Besides, I have a question for you, anyways," she told him, standing on her toes to meet his eyes.
