I just got some time off from work and decided to go shopping - though I strongly regret that decision now. The last minute shoppers have run a rampage through the streets of the little shops that line the main road in the CBD.
I just got here and I already wished I hadn't driven here. Finding a parking spot was a nightmare and Jimin, my friend, wasn't of much help as he hummed along to every single Christmas song played on the radio or in the stores we passed by.
The malls were even worse!
We've been to ALL the malls in the vicinity and I'm at a point where I want to stand here, in the middle of the street and scream out in frustration.
I can't seem to find a simple tiny thing. All I needed were photo frames.
Not even the annoying musical ones... Just the regular photo frames for a single photograph.
Hmmm.... and maybe some gift wrap. But all the stores were out of both these things!
And all I could find were gift boxes with ribbons.
"Jin hyung why didn't you shop online if you were so busy?" Jimin asked me innocently, as he walked the streets with me.
"Ahh Jiminah, you know how busy we get at the office, just before Christmas eve. We get really busy at this time of year. A lot of our customers are in a hurry to send out all their customers' orders before we close so that their parcels are received before customs close. So, there just wasn't any time in between all the reports I had to send off and sleep for my sanity." I huff out, tired after walking out of the tenth store, with nothing.
I finally decided to go home and make something on my own. Then I'll fill these boxes up with them and gift them to my six best friends. Though Jimin may already have guessed at what he's getting, based on my current mood.
Jimin was the only one available to help me look for the items on my list, since he was the only member of our group that was currently free, as Hiseu, his girlfriend, was at work.
The others were out on Christmas eve dates with their girlfriends.
Jimin suddenly stops in front of a shop window, looking at a display of the manger scene from the Bible, complete with Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus and the North Star above.
It's beautiful. I think to myself. But it reminds me of Cho.
I study the detail and admire the effort the store staff had invested to recreate the scene.
