Come morning, we enter the Serpent Road and make our way towards Baron. The ocean ripples above our heads as creatures big and small swim past. Upon our arrival, we immediately enter the inn. We notice a friendly face speaking with some of the guards.

"Yang!" Cecil says. "It's me, Cecil! I became a paladin!"

"Get him!" Yang says, directing the guards to attack us.

"Yes, sir!" both of the men say in unison. Before any of us can respond, they begin attacking us. Palom and Tellah each cast midlevel fire spells, defeating the guards. Now Yang stands in front of us.

"Yang! It's me!" Cecil says.

"I know that!" Yang says.

"Come to your senses!" I say. We don't want to fight him, but we have no choice.

He must have amnesia... I wouldn't be surprised. We all nearly died when Leviathan attacked our ship...

With Porom being first in the turn order, she decides to use her twin ability with Palom's help to cast Comet on Yang. Tellah follows with a high-level lightning spell. When my turn comes, I refrain from casting any spells. Seeing my hesitation, he punches me right in the chest, sending my heart rate skyrocketing. I collapse to my hands and knees.

"Adrienne!" Cecil says. He comes to my defense while the others continue to battle Yang.

"Why... a-are you doing this?" I choke out, trying to catch my breath.

"Shut up!" he says. Tellah casts a healing spell on all of us before Yang can make his next move. Once enough turns have gone by, Cecil deals the final blow. Yang drops to the floor, clutching his head.

"You okay, Yang?" Cecil asks. A very faint, almost imperceptible mist leaves his eyes as his memory returns.

"Cecil! Leviathan attacked us and I don't remember what happened after that."

"It would seem that you are being used by Baron for your amnesia," Tellah says.

"I am sorry," Yang says.

"It's okay. You didn't mean it," I say.

"Where's Rydia and Edward?" Cecil asks.

"Rydia was swallowed by Leviathan. I don't know what happened to Edward."

"I see."

"Where am I?"

"We're in Baron. Soldiers will hear us. Let's talk over there." Cecil gestures to the hallway. We follow him around the corner to the inn's front desk.

"Beaten the guards?" the innkeeper asks.

"Yes," I say.

"Great! Stay at my inn! It's free!"

"Thank you."

We head for the cozy little beds in the adjacent room. Palom climbs under the covers of one of them and falls asleep.

"Who is this gentleman?" Yang asks.

"Tellah the Sage."

"I see. I am a karate master of Fabul."

"I'm the Mysidian genius, Palom!" I guess he hadn't fallen asleep after all.

"Please do not mind him. I am his twin sister, Porom."

"You hurt us, man!"

"Stop it, Palom!"

"I'm ashamed," Yang says.

"It's okay, Yang," I reassure him.

"Anyways, we must rescue Cid," Cecil says.

"It won't be easy to sneak into Castle Baron," Tellah says.
