The sky is beautiful. The stars are complementing the black fabric that covers the earth. Nothing could make this moment better. Sitting with my family on the moonlit hills.
No one is speaking. No one is making a sound. The peace is music to my ears. Until one starts to try and make a conversation.
"So I'm getting married tomorrow" Casper restates for the 20th time in the past 5 minutes.
"I know. Stop telling me that"
"You know it felt just like yesterday that I found you in the tree house."
"Well technically Beth found me and it was yesterday" Cas looked at me with a strange look. "Yesterday 10 years ago" I clarified
"Hahaha true Al true"
"Remember how at first we despised each other"
"Yes hahaha good times. And remember the time you fell down the stairs because Lucy was at the door and you didn't want me to answer it."
"Yes, and you own me a broken leg for that"
"What did I do? I was only going to answer the door and then all of a sudden you fell down the stairs. How was I meant to know that your girlfriend was on the other side and that you wanted to open the door for her?"
"Well what about Neal?"
"What about him?"
"The first time I met him you were with him but you said you were meeting with a friend and not your boyfriend."
"That was only because I didn't want you, the boys and dad to kill the poor kid" I interrupted my brother
"That is true but I probably would have tortured him less if I knew that you had a boyfriend before I met him."
"But thank Heaven that I returned as soon as possible so I could intervene, otherwise you would be in jail and mum and dad would have to have filled and signed several papers."
"But would you still love me"
"No because I was 20 and I could handle it on my own and even though he was my first boyfriend I wanted him to feel comfortable and not feel threated by you or Acelin, or Leo or Malcom or dad."
"True but still he is a guy and you are a girl and some of them can be dangerous"
"Oh please Casper, the only dangerous guys that I know that are Sean and you four boys"
"No that isn't true"
"Yes it is"
"And what of Rumpelstiltskin"
"Okay let's get this straight he is a fictional evil wizard but sometimes he did what he did to protect his son"
"I hate it when you are right"
"Aren't I Always?"
"No."
(Third person's POV)
And in that moment nothing could ruin the bond that they shared.
They were always there for each other through thick and thin.
They relied on each other.
They cared for each other.
They loved each other.
And in that moment she knew she found it.
She was happy.
And that is all that mattered.
