"Did you hear? She's back." Ron says from across the table. "Who?"
"Danyi Kim. She's all injured, do you think she went into the forbidden forest?" He shrugs, looking around at the great hall. "Where is everyone."
~~~
Everyone stands in the hall, surrounding Danyi. Most of them shouting insults at her or yelling at her. Harry, Ron and Hermione push though the crowd. In the middle of it stood Danyi, hair messy, head low. "Nice of you to join the living again, Kim." Harry spits, referring to the multiple injuries she had.
A smirk played on her lips as "Bet ya missed me, Potter." She says, looking up at the ceiling before turning her head towards him. "Of course not, Hogwarts just wasn't the same without your charming presence." He says sarcastically.
Their banter continued, each word a carefully crafted shield to hide the genuine concern and relief that Harry felt. Deep down, he wanted to reach out, to ask her what had happened, but the promise they made – the unspoken rule they followed – held him back.
~~~
"There are some people I mentioned my Defense against the Dark Arts idea with." The trio sit down. "You mean about us teaching ourselves?" Harry asks, she nods in return.
"We can't rely on Umbridge to teach us what we need to know," she asserted, her eyes glinting with determination. "So, we're taking matters into our own hands. We'll teach ourselves Defense Against the Dark Arts."
Harry and Ron exchanged glances, silently acknowledging the significance of the moment. The group that gathered included members from various houses, united by a common goal – to prepare for the dangers that lay ahead.
However, Hermione had intentionally left out Slytherins from the invitation list, convinced that they were more likely to snitch. Unbeknownst to the trio, Danyi Kim sat at a nearby table, her keen senses attuned to the hushed conversation.
Hidden beneath the hood of her cloak, Danyi discreetly eavesdropped on the clandestine meeting. Her Slytherin instincts and her commitment to the cause against Voldemort urged her to gather as much information as possible. The snippets of conversation reached her ears.
As Hermione outlined their plan to learn spells in secret, Danyi's mind raced. She contemplated whether to reveal her presence or remain in the shadows, quietly gathering information for the benefit of her fellow Slytherins.
The meeting continued, with Hermione emphasizing the importance of discretion and trust among the participants. The atmosphere in the Hogs Head Inn became charged with the shared commitment to defy Umbridge's restrictions and prepare for the challenges ahead.
Eventually, as the trio and the others dispersed, Danyi lingered for a moment, deep in thought. The decision to keep Slytherins in the dark stung, and a sense of determination settled within her. She would use the information wisely, not as a means of betrayal but as a tool to bridge the gaps that divided the houses.
In the coming weeks, as the group clandestinely practiced spells and exchanged knowledge, the presence of Danyi, now aware of their efforts, added an unexpected layer of unity to their cause. The divisions that once separated Gryffindor and Slytherin began to blur as they faced a common enemy, and the Hogs Head Inn became a silent witness to the subtle shifts in alliances that would shape the course of the brewing conflict.
