"This is mad. At this rate we'll be the only ones in our year without dates." Ron groans. Snape walks past and slaps Ron over the head. "Well, us and Neville!"

"But then again he can take himself."

"It might interest you to know that Neville's already got someone." Hermione states matter a factly as Ron gasps. "Now I'm really depressed."

Fred hands Ron a note, it reads "GET A MOVE ON OR ALL THE GOOD ONES WILL HAVE GONE!".

"Well Hermione, you're a girl."

"Oh well spotted."

"Come on. It's one thing for a bloke to show up alone. For a girl it's just sad."

"I won't be going alone because believe it or not someone's asked me. And I said yes." She slams her book closed and exits the dungeons. "Bloody hell." Ron mutters. "Look. We've just got to grit our teeth and do it. Tonight when we get back to the common room, we'll both have partners. Agreed?"

"Agreed."

Harry is walking up the steps to the Owlery. He reaches the top and bumps into Cho who has come around the corner.

"Harry!" Cho exclaims

"Cho!" He responds, matching her energy. "Watch yourself on the stairs, it's a bit icey at the top." She warns him. "Ok thanks." She nods, continuing to walk down the stairs before Harry stops her. "Cho?"

"Yes?"

"Um. I just wondered if maybe you wanted to go to the ball with me?" He mumbles. "Sorry? I didn't catch that."

"Erm. I was just wondering if maybe you wanted to go to the ball with me."

"Oh. Um. Harry I'm sorry but someone's already asked me. And well I've said I'll go with him." Harry frowns. "Ok. Great. Fine. No problem. Good."

"Harry I really am sorry."

"No, it's really alright."

~~~
Harry sits in the common room, reading a book, still disappointed that he the chosen one can't even get a date. He watches as Ron gets carried into the common room. "What happened to you?" He asks, closing his book. "He just asked Fleur Delacour out."
"Sorry?" Hermione asks, now intrigued in the topic. "What did she say?"
"No of course." Hermione scoffs as Ron shakes his head shakily. "She said yes?"
"Don't be silly."
"There she was walking by. You know I like it when they walk. I couldn't help it, it just sort of slipped out." He mutters. "Actually he sort of screamed at her, it was a bit frightening."
"What did you do then?"
"What else? I ran for it. I'm not cut out for this Harry. I don't know what gotten into me." The Patil twins walk past. "Hi Harry!"
~~~

The Yule Ball had arrived at Hogwarts, casting a spell of enchantment over the castle. The Great Hall was transformed into a dazzling dance floor, adorned with floating candles and shimmering decorations. Students, dressed in their finest robes, twirled and swayed to the magical melodies echoing through the room.

Harry, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness, stood by the entrance with Parvati Patil as his last-minute date. As they entered, the ethereal atmosphere of the ball surrounded them. Harry scanned the room, his eyes inadvertently drawn to Danyi Kim, who looked stunning in an elegant gown that accentuated her Slytherin pride.
