Lily twisted the key into the door knob and pushed the door open, as soon as Isla stepped inside, a large orange bundle came prowling to the door.

"Hey, Goose," Isla hefted the cat into her arms and carried him to the kitchen as she followed after Lily. "What's for dinner?"

Lily opened the fridge and placed the left overs on the table, Isla placed Goose on the table and stroke his fur as she watched Lily place the plate into the microwave.

Once the light turned on, Lily turned to Isla. "What did you want to tell me?"

Isla stuck her tongue against her cheek for a moment, "So um...I met this boy."

Goose meowed, Lily looked at Isla with raised eyebrows.

Isla continued, oblivious to the look. "His name is Percy, and he fought the ugly cheerleaders- they were monsters, an emperean or a-"

"Empousa," Lily said.

Isla nodded grimly, "Percy had this large sword and he managed to kill one after I stabbed the other."

Lily rounded the counter as she took the steaming plate out of the microwave and placed it in front of Isla, "You killed a monster?"

Isla nodded and smiled proudly, "Yep!" Then she reached for the knife in her pocket and placed it on the table, it was still covered in Tammi remains and a little wet. "Just like how you taught me."

Lily ruffled her hair, messing it up even more. "Well, I'm glad you're learning but promise me you're not going to do that again."

"I promise," Isla said, her mouth already stuffed. She was quiet for a second, then as if remembering something, her eyes lit up. "But what if the monsters come back? Can I kill the monsters then?"

Lily regarded her daughter for a moment, her excitement for killing monsters should've been a concern if it wasn't vital for survival. "Only when the monsters come back," she says. "But mum will protect you."

Isla nodded as Lily took their plate to the dining table, as they settled down, Lily knew what she had to do. Like a man once told her a decade ago, the time will one day come where Isla would have to go. This was the day.

Actually, it was the following day, not that day when Isla had to leave. She's thought it through for the night, losing some sleep over it before she found the courage to pick up the landline and dial the number that's practically haunted her dreams.

That morning, Lily woke Isla up and called her to the living room where the girl found a boy sitting on their couch, sipping tea that her mother had made.

Well, he looked like a boy but he was tall with curly brown hair poking out of the hat he wore and thin wispy beard on his chin.

He smiled at Isla when she walked out, Lily stood up and introduced them. "Isla- this is Grover, Grover- this is my daughter, Isla."

Grover stood up with some difficulty, he adjusted his foot as if it was uncomfortable in the sneakers he wore. "It's nice to meet you!"

"Come," Lily waved her over. "Take a seat."

Isla did as told, sitting on the armchair across from Lily. Then she looked between Grover and her mother, wondering why Grover was there? If he wasn't enjoying the biscuits, Isla thought he enjoyed the silverware more? "What's er- going on?"

"There's something I've been meaning to tell you," Lily began, sounding very solemn as she looked at Grover who nodded. "Grover here, he works at this camp called Camp Half-blood."

There it is again, that word. Half-blood, she's heard it so many times within the last twenty-four hours she's grown quite sick of it.

When Isla was young, she hated that word. Even now. In her world, at her school, half-bloods aren't the most welcome. In their wizarding community, there was a law where a magical person can't be with a no-maj or non-magical people- muggles, her mum called it.
