It was a tiring day and on top of it, even his mood wasn't alright—a major reason why Taehyung hadn't picked up Jeongguk's about hundred calls since the afternoon.
He can't understand just what has made him upset or what irked him about Jeongguk to avoid talking to him today. Just like how—when Taehyung is home at around 10:30pm to change into comfortable clothes and make sure he reaches his new job destination before the time; a minute later, Jeongguk's name again pops up on the screen of his broken phone.
His heart skips a beat, his head freezes for a second—contemplating if he should pick it up or not. But then there's only ten minutes left before he leaves the apartment so he chooses the positive.
"Hello?" He speaks, voice soft and gentle yet the tone is somewhat tired.
"Where the fuck were you the whole fucking day Taehyung?! I was so fucking scared—I thought I did something to upset you!!" It's obvious; the way he sounds so furious and relieved at the same time—the way his words are moulded into a frame of anger and concern both; it's heartbreaking and heartbreaking both at the same time.
"I thought you'd have forgotten about me by now—"
"Are you kidding me?!"
The speed at which Taehyung rolls his eyes is much more than the speed of his brother singing stupid rap songs.
"I don't think so.." uncertain and confused of what he's been feeling, he says in low voice.
"If I knew you'd act this way Taehyung, I swear I wouldn't have left your apartment at all!"
"Did you call me to shout and scream hyung—"
"And why the hell are you calling me hyung now?"
"Isn't that what you're to me?"
"Obviously not! Since years I've been your 'gukkie' aren't I? What changed in one day—"
"You are thousands of miles away, building a new life with new people and new friends; that's what changed. I doubt you'd remember me after a week or two.."
There aren't any other words exchanged between them; Jeongguk didn't expect this from the younger nor Taehyung realised that he said what he had been doubting since the morning. He hears the older's heavy breathing; as if he had been trying to control his anxiety and anger.
Taehyung too feels nervous and shitty because why would he just create such drama when they were going on just about fine and lovely—when he had already believed the promises Jeongguk made to him.
"I was certain that you understood the things I told you that day; I promised you so many things Taehyung—and what new friends are you talking about? You know me too well and you do know how fucking hard it is for me to interact with new people let alone these English speaking ones—and to interact, first I gotta have the intention—the want to befriend people which I really don't have. I know I will leave after my studies are complete so why would I want any friendships that obviously isn't going to last long..you're tensed for no fucking reason—"
