Growing up, Stella and her mom Jenny would visit her mom's friend Katherine in Colorado. Stella always loved the thought of being in the country, but never thought she really would live there. Or that her mom would die of cancer. Yet here we are. A week after her mom's funeral, she is boarding a plane from LAX to move in with the Walters.

Her life is completely torn apart, she is moving in with her godmother's family a day before the start of junior year. But that's nothing she can't handle. Right?

Stella Berkshire

Stepping off the plane, I take a breath of the Colorado air I've missed after all these years. I make my way through the small airport, making my way to baggage claim. I see Katherine in the distance and run to hug her. She meets me in the middle, pulling me into her tight embrace.

"How was your flight sweetie?" She asked once she pulled away from the hug. "It was really good, I watched Barbie on the way here," I told her, us both laughing due to my love for the movie. "Well that sounds just lovely, and I'm so glad you are here now. As much as I wish the circumstances were better, I'm so happy to have you living in the house not just for a few weeks." She spoke, making me feel so grateful that I have such an amazing godmother.

" so I was thinking before we went home to George and the kids we could stop for Monty's and catch up. I know it's your favorite." She sent me a smile, remembering all the ice cream trips from the summers I spent here when I was younger. " oh my god yes! I have a lot to catch you up on" I told her, happy to be back with my second mom.

About an hour later, we got home from Monty's and I brought my bags to my room before joining Nathan downstairs, He brought me to see everyone. "I'm sorry about your mom, but I am really glad you are here" Nathan spoke, waiting at the bottom of the stairs. "It's all good honestly. It still hurts a lot, but I've accepted that it was going to happen a long time ago. On a more positive note, I'm so incredibly happy to be back with my lil artist friend" I joked, nudging him with my shoulder slightly. " well guess I'm happy to be beach with my singing buddy too" he joked, us finally reaching the pool.

"Hey guys, miss me?" I asked, causing all of the kids' attention to snap over to me and Nathan. I was already in my swimsuit since it was so hot outside. Immediately all the kids ran over to me, hugging me and covering me with water. "STELLA" they all yelled, not quite knowing when I was coming, me wanting it to be a surprise to them all.

They all pulled away from the hug, leaving one person getting out of the pool. Cole Walter. My childhood best friend, my first crush, the boy I haven't seen in three years. He looks so different now, more grown. He freezes too, taking in the fact that I am here, before running over to me. I run up to him, jumping on him and wrapping my arms around his neck tightly, burying my head into his neck. He stumbles back slightly, not expecting me to jump into his arms. His hands roam my back, before finding their way to my waist. "I missed you coley" I spoke into his neck, inhaling his comforting scent I have missed all these years. "Missed you to Ells" he spoke, us laughing at our nicknames from when we were younger.

He finally let me down, keeping a hand on my waist, guiding me to the chairs on the pool deck, and sitting back in his chair. "So, you excited for school tomorrow?" He asked, knowing my thoughts on starting a new school. We had kept in touch over the years, talking a lot.

"Eh, a little nervous but I'll be fine. We have the same schedule minus art though right?" I asked, him nodding in reassurance. "Yup, and I have study hall that mod so I can hang with you in there if you want. But I confirmed with the guidance office for you, don't worry." I smiled, feeling better now. " and don't worry, I'll help you with the homework." I joked, knowing he didn't always love doin' work. We talked for a little while longer, until dinner.
