_______

Purple vividly remembers his mom telling him a story when he was young. She would glorify it into a fairy tale because of his young age, but as this was during the time after his dad left, something always told him that wasn't how it went.

And after Navy's final stand a few weeks back, the fairytale was beginning to resurface in his memory.

And it was about to drive him off the deep end.

"Long ago," Orchid began. "When my parents married, an elderly man warned them that their child would be cursed with a powerful gift."

"And was their child given a gift?" Purple asked innocently.

"Well, when their child, me, was born, the man told of the curse again. When I would come of age, the powers would begin to come alive."

"And did they?"

"Yes, they did."

"Why don't you use them no more?"

"Well, when me and your father married, the same man told us my powers would be passed down to my child."

"And did they?"

"Well, you'll have to see for yourself."

"Is that story true, mommy?" Purple asked.

"Well, my sweet boy," She said, kissing him on the forehead. "What do you think? As I said, you'll fhave to find that out for yourself."

Purple would think long and hard about that. Was it true? Or was it just one of his moms stories?

"You'll have to find that out for yourself."

"Did your mom ever tell you stories as a child?"

King had asked the question totally out of the blue one night, a month and a half after the battle. Purple had been really shattered after his mom's death, having to go through it for the second time, and King had been trying his best to keep it off his mind.

"Yeah."

"Which one was your favorite?"

Purple thought about the question.

"Well, there was this one story she would always tell me. She'd say that she had powers that would be passed on throughout the years."

"And was it true?"

"I never knew. She told me I'd see for myself, and she died before I knew the truth."

"Oh..."

"Yeah."

"Do you think it's true?"

"Maybe. She would always tell stories that were true, so I don't know."

"Well...I think it's true."

"Really?"

"Yeah. Hell, if you got powers, for one, I'd be really proud of you. And two, it'd be super awesome to see you kick ass with powers."

Purple laughed. It would be really cool to have powers.

"Thanks, King."

"Hey, you've been really sad since your mom died. I'm just happy to see you happy."
