Gitae immediately got off of his chair. "Oh my gosh. Are you okay?" He squatted in front of Sunwoo. "I didn't think you'd fall off the chair. That must've hurt." He held Sunwoo's hand.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have drunk like that last night. I shouldn't be here." Sunwoo suddenly spouted.
"What? Why are you suddenly-"
"I should leave."
"No. Would you stop for a second." Gitae held Sunwoo by his shoulders forcing him to face him. "Why are you suddenly acting like this?"
"I'm sorry."
"And why are you treating me like a stranger?" Sunwoo bit his lower lip. Gitae helped him stand. "What is it? Do you not remember me?"
"No, of course I do. I just remember our last conversation."
"Is that why you've been so distant towards me?"
"What? I'm not distant."
"Yes you are."
"I'm not. You're the one who's distant."
"How am I distant?"
"Well, I invited you for lunch the first time we met up for the assignment and you completely turned me down."
Gitae furrowed his brow. "What? I had plans that day. That doesn't count." Sunwoo pouted. Gitae went back to the last pancake. He took it off the pan. "Almost freaking burnt the last one." Sunwoo sat back down. He put three pancakes on a plate for Sunwoo. He put the plate in front of him along with the syrup. Sunwoo started to dig in. 'Mm~ it's so good!'
"Is that the only reason why you're treating me like someone you don't know?" He sat back down next to Sunwoo. Sunwoo shook his head. "Then what's the other reason?"
Sunwoo swallowed before speaking. Having Gitae stare at him while he ate made him even more nervous. "The past."
"The past? You mean the last time we saw each other?" Sunwoo nodded. "And why is that?"
Sunwoo hesitated before answering. He took another bite of the pancake. 'So good~'
"I'm embarrassed."
"Well don't be." Sunwoo slowly nodded. "And you didn't even let me finish-"
"Because I know what you were going to say and I agree. Friends falling for each other is not okay. The both of us being guys made the whole situation even worse than just falling for a friend."
"I didn't want to lose my friend over that though." Gitae's words surprised Sunwoo. He faced him. "You just started to distance yourself from me until you suddenly changed schools silently." Sunwoo faced his pancakes.
"I guess I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable." He put his fork down. "I'm sorry I disappeared." Gitae nodded. Sunwoo continued eating while Gitae continued staring at him. He rested his elbow on the counter and continued to stare at Sunwoo with a smile on his face.
'He's sitting so close to me. Our thighs are touching.' Sunwoo thought.
Sunwoo cleared his throat. "These are really good." Gitae remained quiet while keeping his smile and eyes on Sunwoo. Sunwoo still felt uneasy being so close to Gitae and him staring at him made him worse. "Y-you like western food?"
