I woke up feeling groggy, my head aching as if it was filled with cotton. I slowly opened my eyes and saw Maddie and another girl standing around my bed. The girl was quietly humming. Maddie held food in her hand. The girl noticed I had woken up and wiped away her tears. I weakly smiled and opened my mouth to speak. But all that came out was a faint whisper. They leaned in closer to hear me. "I'm okay," I said.

"Thank god. You scared me for a second." Maddie whispered as she handed me a sandwich and a bottle of water. "You need to eat and drink something," she continued with a smile. "By the way, this is Tiffany, my only friend here. She found you lying on the ground."

"Thank you very much, Tiffany," I say with a mouth full of food. Tiffany wiped more tears from her face and walked out.

"Um... Tiff will be fine she's just a little shaken up. She's a very sensitive girl. Anywho you should get all the rest you can the lords are on their way back and they're not happy." Maddie bent down to whisper in my ear.

"There may be a dangerous witch here." She said slowly. Maddie stayed until I finished my food and left after.

But her words stuck to me like glue, my heart sunk to my ass. The weight of her warning settled in quickly, causing panic to course through my veins. With each passing second, my anxiety grew as I realized the gravity of the situation. I knew that the Lords were close by, their intentions clear...to either kill me or force information out of me I didn't have, only to kill me afterward. It felt as though I had reached a dead end, my mind racing to find a plea for my life before they came back.

                    KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

"Nicki.." A voice called out. But I was far too scared... I lay in the bed facing away from the door in a balled up position. I quietly hum the song "My only sunshine... my only sunshine... you make me happy when skies are gray.." As tears flew profusely down my face.

"Nicki..." The voice grew closer to my ears.

I caught a glimpse of my parents and grandma smiling on the other side, but my heart was filled with regret and sadness. I thought about all of the happy memories we had shared, and now they were gone forever. I felt so guilty for what had happened, and I wished that I could turn back time. They didn't blame me for anything that happened. But it was all my fault! "...You never know dear... how much I love you..."

"Nicki..." The voice now whispered lightly in my ear.
I turned to see Monty standing over me with a puzzled look on his face.

Before he could even speak I blurted out, "Please don't kill me! I'm not a witch! Please just don't kill me."

"Stop talking for a moment..." He took a deep breath and sat on the bed. "We have people working on the outside and it has already been confirmed that you're the Devereaux Witch."
