3rd November 2023
The Indian team had arrived in Kolkata on 2nd November.
So, this day was more like an off-day.
Shubman volunteered to take Ishan and Siraj on a tour of Kolkata.
Siraj was very reluctant to this offer.
"Bro, at first you'll pretend like you know every street, then you'll get lost and we'll be stranded in the middle of nowhere" Siraj snorted. "I'd rather go with Shreyas bhai".
Ishan, on the other hand, could never say " no" to Shubman's doe eyes.
So, now he was out with Shubman on a tour of Kolkata, the city of joy!
They rode the iconic tram, ate the street foods they heard about.
They walked in the streets and stopped in every shop to look for a merchandise that would remind them of this day.
By the afternoon, they were in front of the Victoria Memorial.
It was so beautiful.Shubman and Ishan were lying on the grass lawn in front of it. There was a lot of people crowding and having their own picnic there.
Shubman and Ishan were wearing masks and sunglasses, so they weren't recognisable at all.
"This is so beautiful, Shub!" Ishan said.
"I know, Ish".
On the way back, just like Siraj said, Shubman had lost his way.
"I knew this would happen."
"Then why did you come with me?"
"Because I can bear this in exchange of the amount of fun I'd have with you" Ishan said in the most innocent manner.
Shubman laughed at this answer.
After asking a few people, they finally came to the Princep Ghat to get a view of the 2nd Hooghly Bridge.
It was the time for sunset. The view was mesmerizing...Ishan and Shubman stood hand in hand while looking at the sunset.
Suddenly, something in Shubman's pocket vibrated.
Sara called. To his own surprise, Shubman was annoyed at Sara for calling at this time.
She told him something about the arrival of her childhood friend Aman in India.
Shubman replied rather rudely and ended the call.
He and Ishan spent another 20 minutes clicking pictures there.
They sat in silence for a little while. It wasn't an "awkward silence" at all. It was the kind of silence you feel comfortable in, and find peace in.
Far away, some fishing boats were sailing. The mild flowing of River Ganga created a melodious sound. The sky was painted in a beautiful shade of pink.
Both of them awed at the pretty scenario.
_______
Shubman remembered all these after finding the merchandise that he bought from Kolkata.
It was a keychain resembling the Victoria Memorial.
Ishan had the same keychain.
"I wonder if he's using it now" he thought to himself.
He also wondered if Aman arrived in India, because Sara didn't mention anything about him to Shubman.
