Chapter 9 - What Happened To Neil?

When Avni came back from police station, Bebe was preparing for Sandhya puja. So, Avni and Shweta helped her in it. After pooja, everyone gathered at the hall for some tea and evening snacks.

Avni noticed that Shweta was alone in the kitchen, and thought it is the right time to talk to her.

"Umm... Mummy jee...."

"Haan"

"Agar aap free ho to kya main aapse thori der baat kar sakti hun?"

"Haan haan zaroor beta, bolo na"

"Ummm... Yaha nahi..."

"Chalo mere room me chalte hain"

Shweta and Avni came to Shweta's room and Shweta locked the door, as she could somehow sense that the conversation is going to be sensitive. Avni mentally thanked her for understanding that.

"Haan Avni say, what you want to know?"

"Mummy ji, mujhe please aap sach sach bataiega, in das saalon me kya hua Neil ke saath?"

"Main bata to sakti hun. Par tum kya karogi jaanke?"

"Mummy jee main...."

"Avni jo beet gaya wo to beet gaya na, ab uske baare mein sochke humara aaj kyun kharab karna? Waise bhi, ab sab kuch theek hai, trust me!"

"Nahi mummy jee, mujhe jaanna hai. Please..."

Shweta stayed numb for a minute or two, as she was trying to figure out what to say and how to say it, while Avni was trying to read her eyes which was currently blank. She was just about to open her mouth when they heard a knock at the door, and it was Neil.

"Mom, aapne door kyun lock kiya hai? Bebe aapko dhund rahe hain"

"Haan, haan tillu main bus aa rahi hun"

"Avni, mujhe nahi lagta ki main tumhe sab kuch bata paungi, kyunki sach pucho to main wo din hamesha hamesha ke lie bhoolna chahati hun. Lekin haan, main ek cheez jaanti hun ki jiska ant bhala, uska sab bhala. Tumhe pata hai, maine na ummeed hi chod di thi. Lekin, usdin jab tillu tumse milne gaya tha...

(Avni understood that Shweta was talking about that night when Neil came to show her that video of Vidyut, so she signalled her to continue)

... Usdin jab wo wapas aya to maine uske aankhon me ek alag si chamak dekhi thi. Usdin mere tillu ne mujhse ye wada kiya tha ki Mumma, aaj ke baad main hamesha khush rahunga. Ye waada wo mujhse pahale kayi baar kar chuka tha, lekin usdin mujhe pata tha ki wo sach bol raha hai. Mujhe ye to nahi pata ki kya hua usdin, lekin usdin mujhe ek ummeed ki kiran dikhi"

Shweta was interrupted in the middle as this time Prakash wanted to use the washroom. So, she opened the door and left the room. Avni also left along with her.

Before Avni left the Khanna house, she requested Neil to keep Mogli with him for that night, as she will be busy the next day, to which he happily agreed. Both Mogli and Neil came to drop her to her apartment, and they left after wishing her good night.

But the night was not really good for Avni, as sleep was far away from her eyes. She kept thinking about Neil the entire night, and eagerly waited for the Sun rays to come out so that she can go to meet Dr. Mehra as early as she could.

The next morning, she woke up with a text message from DD. As promised, he had sent him the address of Dr. Mehra's clinic.

"Dr. Vijay Mehra, St. Judes Hospital, Bandra".

"Okk, thank you" - Avni replied back to him.

"Try to go before 10. He will be free at that time."

"Great, thanks a lot for the help DD".
