This story was written in Portuguese, my native language. English is not my native language, and I have never had the pleasure of leaving my country. This story was translated to compete for the Wattys 2024 (or 2025 if I hadn't time), which no longer covers Portuguese. It's been hard work translating almost 200,000 words into English, but I hope my effort brings results and you can enjoy the story.
I'm Raydioactivity, Brazilian writer, Wattpad Ambassador and two-time Wattys winner in Portuguese. Now I'm expanding my horizons and this is the first time I'm competing for Wattys in English (wish me luck).
"Love At First Flight" was initially a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fanfiction on Ao3, but as I always wanted to change the story I wrote since I posted the last chapter in 2023, this time I had the opportunity to transform this work into something more natural. Some things were changed, scenes were cut and others were added, so things here will be different, although the soul of the story is the same.
This work is my love, for those who don't know, let me introduce you: I'm Ray and I'm currently a flight attendant (although on the ground at the moment). My love for aviation gave me an idea to do this story when I was talking to some friends and I told them about my passion, and so it initially came about as a fanfic. So, over time, I thought it deserved a place on the originals' shelf. This story was written following international standards of aviation and of course, there were some differences, most of them cultural ☺
But, despite being from the area, I want to state here that this work is fictional, it has no intention of degrading ANY profession or even stereotyping or "reinforcing" any. The events described here are fictional, the names do not represent real people. All NAMES, characters, COMPANIES, uniforms, places, events and incidents in this book are products of the author's imagination or used fictitiously.
Even the aeronautical processes to construct the story's narrative were changed, not everything that happens here is the same as what happens in real life, so if someone of the area reads something and thinks this is incorrect—like Norihiko leaving the jumpseat in the middle of takeoff—it was changed just to give the tone of the narrative.
